Junior Middleweight Title Bouts

Agreements “in place” for three junior middleweight title bouts

The 154-pound division doesn’t need Canelo Alvarez to be exciting. The Ring reports that WBC champion Jermell Charlo, WBA “Super” champion Erislandy Lara, and IBF champion Jarrett Hurd all have opponents for their next defenses.

• WBC champion Jermell Charlo vs. Erickson Lubin (18-0, 13 KO)
• WBA “Super” champion Erislandy Lara vs. Terrell Gausha (20-0, 9 KO)
• IBF champion Jarrett Hurd vs. Austin Trout (30-3, 17 KO)
• Vacant WBO championship Miguel Cotto vs. Yoshihiro Kamegai (27-3-2)

Thoughts?

Jermell Charlo vs Erickson Lubin should be a good fight.

Lara's fight will probably be a routine defence.

Hurd still relatively untested at the top level so Trout isn't a bad opponent, although he has been inactive which won't help him.

Expecting Cotto to beat Kamegai fairly comfortably, but again, he hasn't fought in well over a year so could be massively on the decline by now.

It's kind of funny to see a factually correct thread about actual scheduled fights related to a very competitive weight division be blatantly ignored by people that boldly proclaim themselves as hard-core boxing fans, in preference for them to discuss the Mayweather-McGregor circus event on other threads instead.

I think I must take the sport of boxing and also the use of this forum far too seriously.

Cotto's fight will be nearly ignored because of Mayweather/McGregor. That division needs to have unifications such as Charlo vs. Lara. It doesn't need Canelo. The middleweight division doesn't need Canelo either. Canelo complained about Lara running away. Golovkin is not going to run.
