This Saturday for the vacant WBO Super Welterweight title, this fight has flew under the radar due to the Mayweather/McGregor circus on the same night, I thought Oscar would've ended up postponing this card a week or 2 but its still on

Should be a great watch, Kamegai always brings it and ive never seen him in a dull fight, he's coming off the rematch win over Soto Karass, he's a typical all action Japanese fighter with plenty heart and durability, Cotto though has the class and can win this fight easily if he wants to, which I think he will, I think he'll choose to box Kamegai, Cotto knows Kamegai can punch and can trade for 12 rounds if he has to, Cotto is a clever fighter as well and is too smart to allow himself to be dragged into a brawl

I cant see Cotto stopping Kamegai though, I think he'll take it wide on the cards, it might get messy at times while Kamegai tries to rough him up but the quality of Cotto wins on the night

Kamegai will have his usual face first defence.

I reckon Cotto could stop him here. Good fight though. Shame it's been overshadowed.

I think every boxing fan has a soft spot for Cotto.

I became a fan of Kamegai after the stand he put in against a still "live" Robert Guerero. Unbelievable thirst for a battle.

Cotto should have too much skill and class, but you know Kamegai will keep coming so if there is a chink...

I find it crazy that Cotto is still boxing. He has taken a lot of punishment over the years. Time to stop, imo.

This is the highlight of the weekend...really depends how washed up Cotto is

Will Lemieux move down to 154 for a shot at Cotto's title, assuming he gets passed Kamegai on Saturday ?

I can't see Lemieux making 154

Cotto fighting for a vacant JMW belt does seem a bit out of line with facing Lemieux at MW next, but that's the fight that keeps getting mentioned and they have the same promoter.

Poor Cotto. Potentially his final fight and no-one is interested.

Lemieux would have to cut a leg off to make 154 and Cotto will not fight at the full 160 limit.

Lemieux won't do a catch weight either. He is a big middleweight

Yep. Probably my favourite active boxer. If he does win/lose and bow out, it's not going to get recognised because of the circus in Vegas. Sad considering all he has offered to the sport. Stubborn promoting by De La Hoya.

I agree that this fight is just being badly overshadowed by the Circus that's going on at the same time. Sad when a genuinely interesting fight gets beaten out by a side show event but these things happen and the real fight that matters is still going ahead.

If Cotto wins it sets up a big final fight, against who I couldn't begin to guess right now but with it being the last of his career it'll be a good way to finish a great run at the top of the sport.
I don't see Kamegai winning this fight really, Experience at the top level and in general when you compare their styles of boxing, you have to favour Cotto. But stranger things have happened in the sport and if Kamegai can pull off a huge win then it would be a career defining, if not career changing moment for him.

It was remarkable I guess. Kamegai was doing his best Provodnikov impression.

Just watched about 10 rounds

Kamegai is tough but seemed to be the same round over and over.

Hope Cotto calls it a day. Thing he will have one more payday

Kamegai has one of the worst defensive styles I've ever seen. I wouldn't like to see what state he is in 20 years.

kamegai is pretty much a bigger Brandon Rios.

Yoshihiro spoke to the media and stated he was having terrible lactic acid build up in his arms late in the bout

119-109 Cotto for me, I gave Kamegai the 1st, I thought it was a great performance from Cotto against an uber tough guy, Kamegai is as crude as they come but his constant pressure must be exhausting, especially for a 36 year old Cotto, Miguel boxed a perfect fight, great footwork and punch variety and showed great stamina as well

Total mismatch. If you compare this fight with the WWE May/Mac pish at the weekend this was alarmingly more one sided!

Excellent performance from Cotto all things considered. Something of a masterclass for a modern day great. He'll be sorely missed when he retires.

I love Kamegai's attitude and style, but Cotto proved his skills are still far too good.

This was a better contest than Mayweather v McGregor by miles...and all part of the usual monthly allegedly subscription.
