Why Floyd Can Still Box After Beating Women...

It's not my headline boys...I'm just passing it on for your reading enjoyment. This article is from April but of course, ESPN had it blasted on their Boxing homepage yesterday to try to sway those last PPV buyers still on the fence about dropping money on the fight this weekend.
What they don't realize is that Floyd is impervious to these types of tactics at this point. He's proven that he can assault anyone he wants and batter who he needs to and we are still going to buy his fights. The article points out the main reason why Floyd has been able to avoid being cast out of the public eye..no images of the woman he's beaten. No pictures have hit the internet. He's bought them all up and even got Las Vegas Police to throw them out somehow. It's an interesting take if nothing else. But none of it matters...we will watch...unfortunately.

Unfortunately this kind of thing is common amongst all athletes, much worse in most cases, and is usually referenced by nobodies in some self serving manner. Sugar Ray Robinson did far worse, is considered the greatest ever, and we don't hear much about that. Either way, it's obvious nobody truly cares that's how it is and will remain. Floyd is no angel. Didn't want or expect him to be. Focus on the fighting, half ass moral crusades are completely meaningless and reek of hypocrisy anyway.

I care.
Drug cheats, wife beaters, and nonces are off my Christmas list. I don't care how good they are in the ring.
End of.

Boxing is full of reprobates, I think you're following the wrong sport, perhaps dressage may reveal a roster of more morally sparkling human beings?

Boxing turns reprobates into fine human beings ... and it does it better than anything else ... (just ask Big George) ...

Indeed, but it attracts reprobates in the first place, and it's not magic, it doesn't transform their personality necessarily, just disciplines it.
I've heard from people who worked with George, that even in his second cuddly incarnation, he was a surly, sullen mean sum'bitch away from the cameras.
To be honest there's no evidence boxing attracts more reprobates than any other sport, most elite sports people are adrenalin or attention junkies, and have high levels of testosterone, which makes them fiercely competitive.

A society that takes some bad crimes and vilifies it.
A society that takes more horrific crimes and excuses it.
American society is hypocritical, like the Bible.
Wonder if there's a connection "?

You get the misogyny and grammar award for the day.
Show me a great looking woman who isn't interested in a rich guy and I'll show you an idiot.

Why? Because he did his time.
If you think your entire livelihood should be stripped from you over something like that you've probably never had a girlfriend.

Of course you should never hit a woman unless its a serious case of self defense or some such emergency. We've all made mistakes, I haven't made that one, but we've all done some seriously stupid shet at one time or another. Like Gilgamesh said he did his time. I don't base my buying decisions on the character of the fighter. I'm not buying this PPV because the matchup is BS. Not because Mayweather did something wrong, which he did and paid for.

Hey, no one stopped seeing Sean Penn's films because he was accused of beating Madonna.

Surely equality means that you can now punch a woman as hard as you punch a man?

FM Jr isn't trying to get a job as a university dean. If a felony conviction would keep someone from boxing, the entire history of the sport would be different.

A lot of gyms are in low income areas as well as the nicer parts of town. The closest boxing gym to me is run by the Mongrel Mob!

"The woman had swollen eyebrows, a possibly broken nose, a cut lip, and red marks on her neck, according to officers. She was taken to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and treated for her injuries."
But he said sorry, so it was oke.
Oh, I'm sorry about David Haye, I thought he also fought with a woman, but he only smashed a bottle of glass in some guy his face.

So in the history of boxing We've never had criminals?
I mean have we not had murderers, rapists, armed robbers, drug dealers????
So let's single out one moron who beat his ex and never let him make a living.
Some people are so unfuckingbelievable.

Good one!! If you're looking for "morally pure" athletes (a myth in any sport) then boxing is clearly not your sport.
If you are looking for role models in any sport, you are barking up the wrong tree. Sports is for entertainment, not for moral advancement.

Exactly...Hollywood sleazebags get a pass from media while athletes are generally held more accountable than actors/musicians/non-sports celebrities.
At least Floyd paid the price of a 90-day jail sentence, which is far more than child-molesting movie director Roman Polanski ever did.
