Is this a black eye for boxing?

That a farce fight involving a boxer and a non boxer who struggled in sparring against a c level like van heerden and only looks good against a fat tv commentator will be/or has the chance to be the biggest ppv fight ever financielly?
Finance aside, for me the most important thing was always "was the fight great or not" and not how muxh money it generated. But i have to say it bothers me a bit that a circus fight could become ppv #1 financielly. It also suxks how less promo a real fight like ggg/canelo gets.
I mean, boxing (the boxers and promoters) also play a huge negativ role why a circus fight could become the biggest ppv fight ever. Floyd not willing to face pac when they were prime. Tysons poor life descisions and training atitude..circumstances..time...etc.....

This is a circus and not a serious athletic event. Quit taking it so seriously...just relax and enjoy it!!

Mayweather has been a black eye for boxing for many, many years. The WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF have been a black eye for boxing for even longer.
This fight? Nah, you can't blame it. Boxing's troubles were around long before this fight.

If/when Mayweather takes him to school it will do boxing some good PR imo - for anyone developing an interest in combat sports the UFC is about to look like the Vauxhall Conference compared to the Premier League.

You said you were "impressed" by the video of McGregor sparring. As a boxing expert, it's odd that you have now changed your mind.
I was impressed by the video. Still am. But the dude he was beating up was paulie. A out of prime semi retired out of shape boxer.

Cant really agree. Don't see how any outcome can be good PR for boxing.
If he wins, he was supposed to. Hes the best of his generation and undefeated.
If he struggles or loses it reflects very badly.
Buffer made a good point. Said the winners were all those involved and Vegas, the losers are the fans and the sport. Kind of agree with him tbh.

You seem to be looking at it from Floyd's persepective rather than Boxing's.
UFC are sending in their best pugilist to fight boxing's best pugilist. Many UFC fans believe their sport produces better fighters in every department, including boxing. Their best 'striker' is about to look like a rank amateur, swinging and missing all over the place while getting his face mashed in.... and it's going take place in one of the largest global audiences ever to watch a sporting event.
On Sunday morning the sport of boxing will be like the cat that got the cream, advising the UFC to stick to wrestling in underpants.

One of the best posts this year.
Totaly true. People have been disrespecting boxing for so long. They said ufc would take over boxing and that ufc fighters are the best. Now we are going to see who realy the best is. Connor was the ONLY attraction in the ufc, nobidy watches this sh.:t anymore and those ufc guys are what i said they were a bunch of roided stupid bar brawler. Boxing is the #1 sport, the #1 entertainmant in all the world ever, nothing, no film, no music, nothing brings the excitemant of a great match up, a great fight and a great KO. boxing is King, will reign supreme.

It'll ultimately be merely a footnote in Boxing history unless the monumental upset happens.

It ll quieten the ufc fans. Boxing #1. A old past prime boxer will easily defeat the mma p4p best young prime connor. This shows the dominanten if boxing.

It's only a black eye for boxing if Mayweather loses.

The debate of Boxing vs MMA will probably live on. But nobody ever remembers a washed up James Toney vs... i dunno, whoever. Floyd vs McGregor is 'thee' ultimate spectacle in crossover, cited forever more when the subject comes up.

If Donald Trump fought Barack Obama everyone in the world would want to watch it. This isn't really about boxing. It's not even really sport. It's entertainment.
