We know Floyd was not loved much, particularly in the late period. Most wished him to loose every time he fought. But I think things are different for this fight. Considering that the honor of boxing is at stake. Considering that Mayweather loss would hurt boxing. And a fact that Conor comes across as an even more unpleasant human being then Mayweather, I think it safe to say that this time the majority of boxing fans are behind FMJ. Or Not?

I find McGregor's antics clearly tongue in cheek & having a laugh whilst its Floyd who comes across as "unpleasant". Conor hasn't beaten up women has he?

Floyd all the way, can't stand McGregor.

I don't like either of them but i like McGregor less.

They're both gobby, but I think Conor is more humourous.

The main thing that separates the two to me is that McGregor is a real warrior, a fighter. And backs his boasts with action.

Mayweather is the most boring safety first boxing superstar I have ever seen. I know he is good, but his fights have been so drab and predictable for years, that I do not understand why he became TBEE (the biggest earner ever.)

Castillo clearly beat him and I thought Oscar won closely but clearly.

All my money is however on Floyd by stoppage. I surely seems incomprehensible that anything else can happen.

I want Boxing to win, therefore I want Floyd to win.

I had Floyd beating Oscar 117-111...people saying Oscar won that fight can only be explained by an extreme bias toward Mayweather in my view because it simply wasn't the case.

AT BEST he won one extra round than I gave him, which would've still made him a 116-112 loser.

That's a but harsh. Diaz put him in one of the strongest chokes I have seen. No way out. Maywether wouldn't even be a contender in MMA. Wrong style and. It a risk taker.

Plenty of neutral observers had Oscar winning - maybe it's you know needs to know how to score a fight????
And whilst punch counts are not reliable and do not account for rounds, They show overall dominance. And Oscar was way ahead.

I agree with you that Castillo beat him clearly (hell I even had the 2nd fight with JLC which everyone acts like Floyd won clearly a draw). I had Maidana beating him close in their 1st bout as well. In my view Miguel Cotto, and Victoriano Sosa came closer to beating him than Oscar De La Hoya did.

Castillo I is the only fight I didn't have Floyd winning. I thought it was a rather clear loss too...

Fair enough. Boxing is a tough game to score. But that was my opinion in the night and many respected boxing observers had Oscar winning as did the flawed but interesting punch count.

Don't like either of them, it's all a bit horrible to watch. Two brash talking men milking the public for money. It's just a big panto, not really arsed who wins but yeh Floyd just to prove the point and silence the boxing-hating meatheads would probably be preferable.

Yep. I had that one 115-111 for JLC. Though I had Maidana winning against Floyd it was by such a narrow margin that I wouldn't call it a robbery.

JLC beat him clear in my view.

id love mcgregor to win just to see floyd's reaction. i used to watch UFC when it was chuck liddell etc but havent followed it for a while. mcgregor is a funny guy, mayweather is a bore in and out of the ring.

but i wont look forward to work if it does happen because ive been telling everyone backing mcgregor (and thats all the young lads i work with) that this is going to be an embarrassment.

This sums up exactly what I think

I don't particularly like Floyd as a person, but I always enjoy watching him. People forget how brilliant and aggressive he was in the early part of his career, which is a shame.

I don't know much about McGregor as a person or a fighter.

Is it supposed to hurt my feelings that his record is going to 50-0?

I don't want take the time to listen to him talking about how he's the best ever now, so it's not like I'm gonna take the time to listen to him crow about it later either. He say it all he wants, I'll never think it's the case.

It will be funny years from now to watch kids come along that didn't actually watch Mayweather's career the way most of us have trying to tell us how great he is

Also...you have to consider that as long as he's unbeaten there will always be another mega payday waiting for him out there. He may well be back for a 51st fight at some point.

The easy fight to get to 50-0 thing doesn't really bother me

He already has a stronger record than Marciano and all other unbeaten fighters, and, as gil pointed out the other day, he could've just had one more bum fight at the start of his career.

Incidentally, there is currently a 47-0 boxer from Thailand. He could troll Floyd big time
