One of my favourite fighters of the modern era, signed off with a comprehensive UD win last night in a world title fight, against a solid, if not spectacular opponent.

I never saw it as it was not being shown where I was and I was watching that other fight.

Pity it wasn't a middleweight title. I always fancied Mayweather to rematch Cotto if he held a version of the belt at 160.

Ya, he's still fighting. There has been lots of talk about a Lemieux fight and theyre both with Golden Boy...

Kamegai has absolutely dreadful defense, though he can really take a shot. He's like a Japanese Provo.....

One of the best boxer of the last 15 years. Always brought excitemant to boxing and was a calm nice person outside the ring. Great career! Bye champ

Great fighter huge respect for cotto

He looked sharp, still enough in the tank foir Miguel to dissect Lemieux.

I think Lemieux would have a very good shot of beating him.

Not surprised we have different views there. I'd be surprised if he was as competitive as McGregor was.

Very good chance. Kamagei has a head of stone and marginal power. Lemieux would land and much harder. No reason to risk that when finishing his career.

Cotto doesnt usually give away rounds, but I think he'll be engaging Lemieux more early and be giving him more openings than McG had against Mayweather. Punch pusher Conor won a few nothing rounds, and I dont think it will take much for Lemieux to have more notable success and hang with Cotto for longer.

Yeah, an entertaining beatdown. Probably a TKO in 8-10. Though, being honest, I don't see the allure of the opponent or moving up to 60.

When did he fight somebody as powerful as Lemieux? It is easy to look good against Delvin Rodriguez, one-legged Martinez, dehydrated demoralized Geale and Kamegai.

Has he definitely retired? I thought he was having one more fight.

Regardless the end is nigh and he's had a great career and fought everyone (apart from Golovkin) . A true warrior, I've got nothing but huge respect for him. I've enjoyed his fights from when he was coming through as a light welterweight. Would have liked to have seen him and Hatton fight at that time, would have been a good fight. I think Cotto would have won though.

Boxing will never have enough Miguel Cottos.

Roach wants him to fight Canelo-Golovkin winner which I doubt he will get. I also doubt that he will like realistic options like Lemieux. Most likely, he is done.

We already know Lemiux isn't great.

Why not fight a younger guy with less power?
If this guy beats Cotto, at least we have a new guy on the scene, with a win over Cotto.

How many more PPV buys does Lemiux bring over a young opponent at 154?
Seems like a pretty pointless fight for a guy still interested in being a diva and winning belts.

Lemieux is 28....who are these significantly younger guys at 154?

Lemiuex doesn't fit all of BI's requirements.

Lemieux is realitic because he is a GB fighter. I don't think there is enough time to make a fight against Haymon or TR fighter. Personally, I wouldn't mid to see Cotto vs Brook at 154.
