Seems like Stiverne agrees to step aside and he will fight Dominic Breazale on Deontay Wilder's undercard!

Ortiz is one of the most dangerous opponents. Let's be honest. His skills / combos + amateur experience and one of the longest reach in HW division make him very dangerous. Ortiz is even more dangerous than Povetkin due to his reach .


Will Wilder get respect if he beats Luis Ortiz? Who is probably the most ducked fighter in HW division?

Or there will be another excuses about Ortiz being "overrated old man" ?

Exept Joshua there is no harder/better fight for Deontay Wilder .

So who wins?

It would be Wilder's best win to date by far.

I hope you're right. This is one of the best match ups in the division. If Wilder wins this sets up Joshua vs Wilder for summer of 2018. Excites the hell out of me

Why would conclude that? Wilder has gotten little credit for what he has done because he has accomplished relatively little given he has held a belt for years.

Beating Ortiz would get anyone credit, as King Kong is highly regarded.

Wilder has a poor resume (Stiverne aside), despite being a 'champion' for a while.

Beating one of the most highly touted contenders in the division will certainly get him some well deserved credit.

Wilder is just as phony as Canelo was early in his career.
He did beat Stiverne, but the rest has been trash.

This is the true test for Wilder.

Agree with those saying this would be Wilder's best win by far.

Wilder's best punch is of course is right and Ortiz is a southpaw so I predicted a Wilder KO.

Covering all my bases, Wilder losing and being exposed wouldn't surprise me very much though.

If we actually get to see Wilder - Ortiz with a Stiverne - Breazeale undercard, then that would be pretty bad ass. I'm pretty jaded, and a little skeptical that it will actually go down exactly like that, but I hope it does.

As for whether people will give Wilder respect after fighting Ortiz; they probably will in the most typical circumstances. Of course, if Ortiz doesn't bring it and we see an awful fight like Haye - Harrison, Wilder - Scott, Cotto - Martinez, etc., then no one is under any obligation to act like Wilder just beat a monster. Ortiz needs to fight like his actual self. He can't be turning into a slow, gun shy, soft-punching, old man and still be treated like he's a killer.

You talking about Wilder? He hasn't earned any respect. By fighting Luis Ortiz he'd merely be doing what he should've been doing 2 years ago. Fighting legitimate contenders.

It's about damn time he steps up to the plate, and actually defends his cracker jack box belt against guys that deserve the shot. If he wins I'll give him his props, if he loses I'll just laugh and say "Told ya this guy sucked...that's why he's been ducking contenders"

Ortiz is stylistically an easy target for Wilder. Ortiz has been looking horrible, and he's another counterpuncher like Stiverne.

He's more skilled than Stiverne, but I agree with you that he's looked like sh*t lately.

I've done a bit of research and it seems one hack journo posted this story and then 3 other journos rehashed his story without and fact checking.
Who knows, sometimes rumours like this do come true, but for me, there are far too many obstacles for it to ever happen this year.

Ah well, at this moment I got more respect for Charles Martin, Breazeale and Jennings as to Wilder, but if Wilder steps up, that might change.

Straight after the Spzilka fight I said Ortiz would absolutely ruin Wilder. He didn't know what to do with that southpaw stance.

I'm going to stand by it.... But Wilders power gives him a chance against anyone.

Hope this is happening and then the winner fights Joshua straight away. If Wilder wins in style the Joshua fight in the UK will be absolutely massive.

Jennings is better than anyone Stiverne ever beat.

In the period since he lost to Wilder, Stiverne has done pretty much nothing.
And yet he sits in the #1 contender seat.
He only has that position because the is not going to win against any of the top 4.
How he got that position is inexplicable.
How he has stayed there is equally inexplicable.
It makes a joke out of the WBC.
Here they are pushing a mandatory onto Wilder that he beat convincingly, who does not deserve #1 contender, who is inactive, and no one can generate any interest or money in seeing him fight.
I am so surprised that the powers that be in the organisation haven't made Stiverne take a fight. Maybe that will happen. It should.
