Carl Frampton will soon announce his new trainer as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.

The two-weight world champion last month confirmed that he had parted company with manager Barry McGuigan, promoter Cyclone, and trainer Shane McGuigan.

Rumours are widespread regarding the next step for the Belfast featherweight, and his new trainer looks to be set.

Reliable sources inform Irish-Boxing.com that Frampton will link up with Salford’s Jamie Moore going forward.

The 38 year old was a top light middleweight in the 2000s, winning Irish, British, Commonwealth, and European titles.

Known for his fan-friendly style, he was involved in memorable wars with Michael Jones and Matthew Macklin. Moore’s mother hails from Kilkenny, and he won the green belt in 2008 with a third round stoppage of Ciaran Healy.

In terms of training, Moore has been in the corner of a number of fighters including Tommy Coyle, who he still works with, and former foe Macklin.

Moore also works as a pundit for Sky, and notably picked Frampton to beat Bury’s Scott Quigg when the pair fought in a super bantamweight unification in Manchester last year.

It is understood that Moore will travel to Belfast for fight camps to enable Frampton to live full-time with his family.

Living away from home in London previously, this was believed to be an issue for Frampton, one which negatively affected his morale.

If, as rumoured, Frampton is to be trained in Belfast then I think it will be a fantastic move..... especially if that all important Windsor Park fight can be arranged.

I like Moore, decent fighter, decent analysis of fights, but if I was Frampton I wouldlnt of picked him as a trainer

Although who knows, he still has plenty of time to grow as a trainer

Who would you pick Oiky?

I suppose chemistry plays a big part in the decision.

Moore seems a good trainer, learning his trade.

The more obvious question, is who is going to promote him.

I'd recommend Carl tries joining forces with Haye. He's a name now, and if he and Selby were to fight on Dave, it'd be huge for boxing. Obviously I'm just dreaming but considering both men are without a contracted promoter, why not make the fight themselves and maximise their earning?

I suppose maximising their earnings could correlate with Sky and Hearn but I urge them to break the mould, Frampton could make a star of Selby.

One thing I wanna see is a sort of fighter power style promotion, hopefully fronted by Schaefer and Haye in the U.K., they've already built up a decent stable, use their links and resources to build relationships with top fighters that aren't with Frank or Eddie. More competition the better, and having it in on freeview would make for some mass popularity.

Much as I like Jamie Moore as a pundit, former boxer and good lad, I still think Frampton would have benefitted from a more 'known' and proven trainer just to develop him a bit more. Be interesting to see how it pans out, I guess McGuigan's son was unknown until fairly recently.

Too be honest with you I haven't really given it much thought, just thought Moore was an odd pick but your right about chemistry

I'd of thought he'd pick someone a bit more decorated

Jamie should get a hi-viz t-shirt with "I am Jamie Moore" printed on it in big bold letters - just to avoid any potential mistaken identity issues.

Frampton and mcguigan were a good match, but sometimes things do have a shelf life, a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter... being at home more in Belfast is good if it keeps him happy, but at the top end of the boxing game I hope it doesn't effect his mentality to travel and fight.

You can't knock quigg upping routes and going to wildcard, but what works for one doesn't always work for the other.
