Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev set!

A very expected and an interesting bout between AJ vs Pulev was set for October 28. Pulev is the only well qualified boxer in each boxing body for facing AJ, but ppl seem not realizing that, he even had a strong amateur career with many medals in Europeans and world amateur championships.
I see a tough battle for each boxer: for AJ because Pulev is a tough, strategical and skilled boxer who knows how to manage bigger opponents, but if AJ uses his size well and boxing smartly (as Wladimir Klitschko did vs Pulev) he will overlap him and even KO easily; For Pulev, his age is going against him, with recent fights vs average opponents, sometimes showing a bit of a hard boxing style and surely will have to train very hard to avoid being KOed.
* I see a late KO for AJ (something like 9th or 10th round), even if go on points I see AJ winning something like 116-112.

I would rather have seen AJ vs KingKong before Ortiz ages any more.
I think this is a good fight though, I think Pulev has a legit chance. Possibly has better stamina than AJ.
I think AJ sparking him out early is probably the most likely outcome, going by the form of both men - AJ has yet to find an opponent he couldn't hurt - 100% KO record, with pretty much everyone visiting the canvas early.
Pulev himself was sparked out of their by Wlad from a vicious left-hook.
I think if Pulev can withstand the inevitable haymakers that will come his way, he's going to have a great chance to take Joshua out late. Joshua is a KO waiting to happen imo.
I'm probably 60/40 in favor of AJ at the moment.

Ridiculous fight... Joshua should be a 100/1 favorite... How does a guy like Pulev achieve mandatory challenger status??? Everyone saw what Klitschko did to Pulev -- hit him at will, knocked him down 4 times before smashing him out cold.. He was Wladimir's worst opponent in years... I can't imagine that AJ can get real excited about Pulev... Breazeale yes... Martin yes... Whyte yes... Klitschko most certainly.. Joshua had to be sky high with excitement going into the Klitschko fight because it was competitive.. It was electric.. This fight has all the appeal of a cold fart in a saggy balloon... It's cold blooded murder like Mayweather-McGregor.. At least McGregor had speed and athleticism, but no boxing skills.. He was wide open whenever he stopped throwing.. He was dead out of gas in 4 rounds...an open target.. You start with 4-round fights not 12-round fights. May-Mac should never have been sanctioned.. Ortiz, Wilder, Parker, Povetkin, and Haye are damned good opponents for Joshua.. Pulev is a horseshit opponent.. What kind of buildup are they going to do??? This is Joe Louis vs Johnny Davis but that was in the 1940's.. You'd think the sport would advance a bit and eliminate cold blooded mismatches.. They never do.. Mismatches happen everyday and the most competitive and exciting fights -- which everyone asks for -- go begging..
Joshua doesn't box down to the level of his opponent -- so there's no chance of an upset.. He'll prepare methodically with great discipline and spend 100's of thousands of pounds on top sparring partners and their accommodations despite the lame opponent.. AJ learned this from Wladimir Klitschko.. Pay sparmates very well, feed them very well, and treat them like royalty.. They'll always agree to come to your camp despite who you're fighting.. Why make training camp a grind or drudgery? If you like to box and get better at it, and everybody you bring in enjoys boxing it should be fun anyway.

If there was a heavyweight with good skills and a witherspoon or holyfield id agree, but the current crop suck. Wlad if hd wasnt so reticent would have put him away, but he is what he is.

Pulev is a solid enough contender and would be in at era. I can't see him winning at all. It's a legit fight as Tanzio said. But it's not that exciting because I expect an easy-ish night for Joshua.
Ortiz, Wilder and Povetkin are the fighters I want to see in with AJ.

I am excited by this fight, Joshua has the confidence to fight top rated people unlike Wilder.

I don't know what state Pulev is in after the KO by Klitschko a few years back but I suspect he is more dangerous to Joshua than Wilder.

Agreed, but I do say that any C class boxer is better and have more guts then Wilder.

Honestly, i have only ever watched Pulev against Wlad & Chisora.... Most brits are probably in the same boat.
Didn't see anything to suggest he can keep AJ off him when Joshua decides to go for the kill....
3rd/4th round KO for me..

I'm thinking the same thing. 3rd or 4th round for me also.

You're talking about a Holyfield who was beaten by the 5th rate John Ruiz...and a Witherspoon who was beaten by Ray Mercer... Mercer was able to land 5 power punches on Wladimir Klitschko in 6 rounds while he was getting tattooed with the kitchen sink -- before getting stopped for the FIRST time in his career -- a pretty pathetic effort by Mercer I'd say... In sharp contrast the Joshua vs Klitschko Heavyweight Title Fight was much better, provided more action, and superior power punching than anything Witherspoon or Holyfield could gin up in their careers..
BTW...did Holyfield ever fight a 6'4" southpaw with murderous right hooks and uppercuts??? NOPE!!! Prime Ortiz would have clubbed Holyfield out. Because even John Ruiz floored poor Evander.. When has Luis Ortiz ever been down or hurt??? Never is when. The man is undefeated at 38 and ready for anybody in the world ... I won't mention how somebody else looked at 38 when he fought Larry Holmes.

I feel Kubrat Pulev deserves a title shot over Luis Ortiz. Here are my reasons :
Pulev is 5-0 with 2 KO's since his only career loss to Wlad in 2014. The Cobra picked up the EBU (European) Heavyweight Title and the WBA Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title in the process. His last 5 opponents averaged over 36.4 wins coming in AND 4 of 5 were former world title challengers.
Ortiz (although very skilled) has a softer resume. His last significant win was vs a VERY faded Tony Thompson. It's been nearly 2 years since King Kong's biggest career win (KO 7 vs Bryant Jennings). Ortiz has since WASTED TIME. His last 2 fights were STINKERS..... an ugly decision win over Malik Scott and ....... a 7th rd KO over Devid Allen?!? WTF is that?!?

4 of Pulev's last 5 were title challengers, but how much does that really mean given where George Arias, Peter, and Johnson are at now? The Chisora domination was solid though, and Pulev did a better job on him than Whyte did.

Prime bowe was better than anything AJ has shown so far. Styles make fights. Holyfields footwork would cause AJ problems. If yoy knew squat about boxing youd know thst comparing how fighters did against common opponents doesnt give you an answer to how theyd do against one another.
When has ortiz actually fought anyone? The guy has skills but his resume sucks.

It was like this in order
Wlad rematch, but he retired
IBF had already therefore agreed Joshua had to face their mandatory. This preceding Ortiz as he didn't hold that belt
Pulev is the IBFs mandatory challenger
