Looked "shot" since the second half of the Cuadras fight.
Never was P4P #1 to begin with.

Maybe now others will join the flock of reality.

if he looked shot against Cuadras (who previously beat Sor) he looked REALLY shot tonight...he couldn't hold the punches and had nothing for a guy he arguably deserved to beat last fight

Sorry to burst your bubble but he was number #1 p4p before his losses. Even the best #1s lose just like Pacquiao, Hopkins, Jones, Mosley, De la Hoya, Whitaker, Chavez did before. Being #1 doesn't mean you are invisible.

Even though I considered Chocolotito as a marvellous pugilist a year or so ago, I couldn't help feeling that HBO's hype machine elevated him to being considered the very best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.

I'm not saying this armed with the benefit of hindsight either, since I've always maintained this stance.

I'll give him credit though, he was a really exciting fighter.

I can't help thinking that HBO unduly influences the journalists at The Ring and also ESPN, whose judgement results in the production of these pound-for-pound lists.

For instance, Oscar De La Hoya owns GBP, which has very close ties to HBO. He also owns The Ring publication. GBP also works with ESPN.

Dan Rafael (ESPN) seems to always lavish great praise on those affiliated to HBO or ESPN, but he's usually far less complementary about fighters or promoters linked to Showtime and the PBC.

When Thomas Hauser used to be an independent journalist, he used to criticise HBO. However, he now works for them and no longer publishes derogatory articles about his employer. Instead his work is used to undermine Showtime events (i.e. the Mayweather IV scandal that was strategically published during one of Money May's fight weeks that was subsequently proven to be untrue).

I suspect I'll be ridiculed for this opinion, but I do feel that HBO's hype machine and their previously powerful influence over the sport has resulted in their fighters having better pound-for-pound and divisional rankings of those published by ESPN and also The Ring, which subsequently influences the content of other media outlets.

He was P4P, but I always thought the competition wasn't there to make him No. 1

HAHAH...ok so this is what you do? Instead of posting that you were wrong about Choco being anywhere near the top of P4P list, you are going to blame HBO? ESPN? RAFAEL? I've told you from the start how ridiculous it was to have this Roman Gonzo lovefest P4P BS. But you went on and on about how great the guy was. You are one of the many that drank the Kool-Aid so be a man and take the blame.

You know, yesterday Chocolatito wasn't even 50% of the champion Chocolatito we all knew. It was a boxer who couldn't find himself in the fight, who is get used to fight standard style boxers, actually he couldn't learn and adapt to a different style, technique, speed and timing that Srisaket bring to the ring (something that Crawford learn in almost 2 rounds to then adapt and excel all his opponents).

My interpretation is that since the first KO he has taken from Srisaket, showed us how poorly weak emotionally unstable Chocolatito is and it repeated yesterday, look how depressive his face was even in the introduction of both fighters. It became worse when he took the first KO, he looked like wanting to cry... Jezz, is sad to see a boxer who isn't a bit mentally resilient. He will know that KO, injury and loss can happen and are part of the sport and need to be accepted. Tyson was mentally and emotionally unstable, but instead of heading down and crying, he would punch more and release all angry inside him (totally useful for boxing).

All the respect for Srisaket, that even having a poor resume, made it worth and boxed ok to win the ex-P4P champ. :salut:

Chocolatito was great but I never had him #1 P4P or anything close to it. The level of competition just wasn't there.

I hope Rungvisai/Inoue happens ASAP. And I hope HBO gets Khalid Yafai into this 115 pound mix as well.

You are all pathetic. "Level of competition wasn't there." Bunch of casuals I swear. He was p4p #1 at one point. It couldn't have been disputed unless you know nothing about boxing. He's in his 4th weight class and fought everyone.

Exactly. Ring, Transnational boxing, and ESPN all him in the top 10 p4p list before he made his hbo debut. He was the only boxer to have 4 consecutive fights against top 10 fighters after Mayweather's retirement which helped establish him as the the pound for pound king. It has nothing to do with HBO or any hype machine. What would HBO even get out of hyping a super flyweight from a country many people have never heard of and doesn't speak English when they can hype so many other marketable fighters from marketable countries.

I'm a massive Gonzalez fanboy but even I couldn't call his p4p number one rating back then as unarguable.

I never had him number one (that I can remember), but he was in the top ten for some time. He just went a weight class too far.

Srisaket just defeated "Chocolotito" twice. He's earned himself an easier fight in Thailand. That is unless Srisaket "chooses" to go immediately for a major fight like Inoue right away.

I'd advise Srisaket to rest then after take an easier fight in Thailand and let a big match up such as "Monster" Inoue build up more interest.
