Cyclone Promotions confirmed that Andrew Selby (9-0) will return to the ring in October.

He will box on the 7th, at York Hall. The promising Welshman will box in a final eliminator for the WBC world title, currently held by Daigo Higa.

His opponent will be Mexican Maximino Flores (23-3-1) whose last loss came against world champion Milan Melindo.

Selby won an eliminator against Cristofer Rosales earlier this year after winning the British, IBF Inter-Continental and WBC International titles.

Chantelle Cameron and Asinia Byfield will be on the undercard.

Credit were credits due with cyclone, they have some talented young guys in Shelby, Taylor, Webb & Easton plus there putting on two good headline fights with a promising undercard

You have a lot of bills/gym/office/wages costs with no TV/Name on the books now either.

Hard to make that work long term.

They seem to have a great relationship with CH5 and thy do have good young talent coming through, so the answer would be yes

Selby has a great chance of beating every champ apart from Higa.
As a Selby fan I hope they go another route, as he'd have to travel to Japan for that one and he still gets caught way more than he should.
As a boxing fan Selby-Higa is a fantastic Boxer-Puncher match-up.
My worry would be if it lands in Japan will the UK get TV coverage.

I had a look through Flores's record, no one I recognise on there, he's been stopped a couple of times, looks to have decent power, I wasn't that impressed by Selby against Rosales last time out, put down early although not hurt, great footwork but his punches lacked snap and quality, he still won pretty much very round except the 1st when he was put down, I cant see anything other than an easy Selby win again here, he could stop Flores late or a shut out

Although not hurt, he looked really shook up as well for a while after the knockdown. He's good to watch as he is such a slick boxer but lack of power and the fact he's shown he's a bit vulnerable means he's going to be even more fun to watch as he steps up.

Nothing on the poster that it is a final eliminator.

Just looked at the rankings Selby is 3 and Flores is 15. Muhammad Waseem is no 1 and silver champion so probably him next

Daigo Higa the champion looks a seriously talented fighter from what I have seen of him. If I'm not mistaken he is the youngest world champion in the sport.

I gave Selby every round, probably a tad harsh on Flores especially as I wasn't all impressed with Selby but he won wide IMO, Flores gave it a good go and never stopped comong forward but there was nothing on his shots, Selby's footwork again was sublime and he was defensively sound as well except when he delibritely switches off, his offence isn't as near as good as his defence though, it improved as the fight went on and he got off some flashy combinations but he doesn't hit hard enough to stop tough guys like Flores coming forward

Selby doesn't look like he enjoys boxing, he's said as much before and he looks bored at times, he really needs to start going through the gears

He may win a belt but I'd never back him against a proper world champion

Just watched this, recorded it - Selby is a talent fair play, that Mexican was decent and tough but Selby made him look average at times

Watched bits of the fight before. It's weird how Selby moves a lot and throws yet seems upright and gets tagged.

It's just a shame with the quality gap he couldn't get him out of there. I do think he will be good to watch against better opposition though.

I actually fancy him to out point the guy who beat Zou Shiming. But it seems they will go for Daiga Higa. Bad move IMo

I saw someone say the MC brought back the repeating of fighter's second names. I didn't even know this happened till a couple of years ago when I was watched Tyson's early fights. He had nice hair too.

Surely his promotional team wouldn't actively pursue a fight v Higa? The Japanese appears to have excellent technique and can seriously bang....lots of his knockdowns have come from body shots and he looks like a relentless, come forward fighter. If Selby tried the nonsense he did on Saturday of standing with his guard down he'd soon be making rapid contact with the canvas against this guy.
