Kell Brook Update

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed plans for Brook’s comeback. “He’s back training,” Hearn told Boxing News.
“He really took the loss bad against Errol Spence. Really bad. The Golovkin fight was always one against the head and he got a lot of respect out of that fight. A lot of actual support and the Spence fight was a really tough fight to take on the chin. Of course [with] the criticism about him quitting in the fight, when he broke his eye socket, I think only now he’s back in his rhythm and now we’re looking at end of November, early December coming back.”
It is currently unclear against what kind of opponent and at what weight Brook would return. “I want him to come back at 154lbs,” Hearn explained.
“I think we need a good solid fight at light-middleweight. He’s not going to come back against [Miguel] Cotto, it’s not going to happen unless we get asked. If we want to do that fight in the States then it’s up to Kell. I never make the decisions on who he fights. I would rather he had a comeback fight at 154. He’s had two losses, I want to see some wins on that record, even if we have two fights in three or four months.”
The showdown with his British rival Amir Khan seems as elusive as ever. “The Amir Khan fight, who knows?” Hearn continued. “We’re waiting for that fight forever. Now Amir wants it 147lbs. I think Kell sees the names at 147 and thinks I want to fight them. I just don’t think he can do it to his body any more. He makes it and to be fair he made 147 I wouldn’t say well for Errol Spence but well for him but why? What’s the point when you can be so strong at 154. I would like to see some green on the record.”

Fair comments by Hearn.
My fear is that he's had two nice paydays - will he go soft or will he be hungry for more? I hope it's the latter.
He's had 38 fights over 13 year career - but is still just 31 years old. I think he should tick over in one or two fights, then see what emerges. Plus he can test his eye socket(s) out.

If you watch his IFL interview yesterday - I think he's thinking about Brook for the Sunday show in December he mentions.

Saw a short clip on BT Sports social media page and looks like he has really blown up can't see him doing 147lb ever again Junior MW is the realistic target

Saunders would be a good domestic showdown
Not sure it could be made now Saunders is in the same training camp .

I was only with him yesterday. He is ticking over and isn't blown up anymore following training the back end of BJS camp in the Canaries.
154 is where he should be for me but he would do 147 if needs be.

He can get back to his usual schedule (Pre Golovkin and Spence) of smashing up cans.

I'd like brooks chances against Bjs.

I think saunders v brooks not a bad matchup. Saunders isnt a heavy hitter or a huge specimen.

Definition of a protected/paper champ. Hes only fought 3 worls class guys in his career and he quit against 2 of them. His title defences were a joke and he only fought spence because he was mandatory. Used to think he was britains best kept secret/talent but it was obviously to do more with the average opposition rather than how good Brook was. No intrest in seeing him again.

In all fairness you're talking out of your arse. A paper champion? Put the crack pipe down.
He beat Porter in the US, defended against some tame'ish mandatories but then moved up 2 weight classes to go up against one of the most feared fighters in the sport where he gave it a real go.
He then came back against Spence when he could have swerved that fight and just moved to 154, but he wanted to take the fight and he was beating Spence till the eye socket went.
If taking on GGG and Spence in back to back fights is considered 'protected' I'd love to see your definition of a risk taker!!

Paper champ? He beat a top guy in his own back yard? He earnt the belt he didn't fight for no vacant belt or against some pudding.
The mandatories were poor but that's the IBF not him. Gavin didn't deserve the fight for his voluntary though
Went to war with 2 top guys and came in second. He didn't quit against golovkin either his corner pulled him. Having 2 broken eye sockets in succession is pretty freaky bad luck.
So in a nutshell, most of what you've typed is shite

He was taking a beating from Spence and was getting knocked out regardless of the eye.

I'd like to see a comeback fight like Hearn describes, at 154, see how he is with his other repaired socket. Get his edge back after 2 tough defeats for a fresh assault on a new division

Spence was the better man and wearing him down, but Brook was up pre broken socket. His level went way down following that. To dismiss it as foregone is weak

Taking a beating?? He was ahead on the cards and was enjoying a dominant round when his eye socket went in the 6th round. After that point it naturally became a struggle. But till the eye injury Brook looked comfortable.

I don't dismiss it, I'm a fan of Brook and think he is harshly criticised at times but Spence had caught up with him and was taking over.

No way brook was going to beat Spence. Might not be anyone that can right now, no shame. That was a good loss. Anybody that has no interest in seeing him again can't much care about watching boxing.

I give him credit for the porter win but it took him over 30 fights to get there when he turned down multiple world title fights before the porter fight. Then after that he fought gavin, bizier and jojo dan!! GGG was for the money he knew he was not going to win and he flat out quit against spence. His eye looked ok when he was having a good luck around the ring for a nice spot to take a knee. And anyone giving him credit for taking his mandatory needs to give there head a shake. If he moved up when his first proper mandatory was due that would have been a huge duck.

154 is no doubt brooks natural division now, also it is far less stacked than 147 so Hearn will find it easier to get him a winnable title shot after a couple routine wins, so I can understand the logic.
But from Brooks point of view, where are the paydays at 154? He has headlined 2 ppvs in succession but isn't a PPV fighter in his own right, he needs a bit of a name and other than Cotto (who will probably be retired by the time Brook is ready to fight him) there isn't any at 154.

None of the title holders are a gimme for Brook. Will Hearn be able to get them over here either?
