I remember the era when Dempsey was presenting and Darke and Jim Watt commenting. That seems like a golden era now compared to the TV teams we have now.

I'm with you mate , Darky used to get really engrossed in the sport he was commentating on .

Miss those days tbh .

Darke is a legend along with Carpenter,Gutteridge and a younger Jim Watt.

Aye those were the days before kids when we would go on a night out and gather at someone's house afterwards for a few beers and a takeaway to see who could stay awake til 5am for the big fights! Then sleep all day Sunday. Superb!

If Darke is already working for Bt sport it wouldn't be hard to sign him up for the boxing nights?

The whole Sky broadcast team are muck these days. All reading from Adam Smith''s script and afraid to actually give their own opinion. Don't even get started on how they score fights. Every fight is a "controversial decision" because of the way they have scored it so badly.

As annoying as Malignaggi is, at least he can speak his mind and score a fight as he actually sees it.

Tyson vs Douglas. You'd think Ian was taking the punches. Superb commentator and a very nice man.

Always loved Darke, he was knowledgeable and just really good at his job.

Met him in New York for Lewis/Holyfield 1, had a chat with him for a few minutes as did many of the brits, it seemed genuine banter and stuff not like he had to do it.

Would be great to get him back commentating on our sport but guessing he is better off with the footie.

Much better than Adam "It's what you like" Smith. No Adam, no it's fvcking not, it's just you lot can't score a fight because you're a shower of imbeciles.

I think TV should employ Ricky Hatton as the 'colour commentator'. Imagine the hilarity of hearing a pissed up Rocky repeat for the fifth time in the broadcast 'I tell ya what. If I found Golovkin in bed wid my missus I'd tuck him in!' And 'you've got to remember boxing isn't a tickling contest'...

They could invent a new hybrid TV programme - sh1t comedy and boxing. It doesn't get any better. It could be like the new gogglebox.
