1-1.5, I wish I could take one of the buys away.

Probably under 1 Million. I mean up until 10 years ago the record was 800 something thousand. Everybody acts like every PPV HAS to do 1 Million these days, hell it wasn't that long ago that 1 Million PPV buys was unheard of.

It might do a million buys, but I feel that this is being a tad optimistic, because its revenue would have been cannibalised by the Mayweather-McGregor PPV event that was priced to the US audience at $99.95 three weeks prior.

It’s an awful lot to expect more than a million viewers to fork out $180 on two PPV events within a three week period, since both events (in my eyes) were targeted towards the same audience.

Also, whilst Canelo and Golovkin were extremely well behaved and respectful during the promotion of this bout, their press conferences didn’t exactly grab the media headlines. There was not enough intrigue or controversy to compel the mainstream masses to consider paying to view this bout.

It’s no surprise to see Oscar De La Hoya constantly bítch and moan about the MayMac event in a hypocritical manner, because he had two reasons to do so: he tried and failed to get Conor McGregor to face Canelo; and he knew that Showtime’s PPV would have severely impacted on HBO’s PPV numbers.

HBO says it's likely to break the 2m PPV sales milestone and be classed amongst the top five events ever.

According to, Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, the rematch between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin brought in between 1 million to 1.1 million pay-per-view buys on HBO, which is quite a bit less than the numbers achieved for their first bout.

 I said it would do just under their first bout.
People thought GGG was robbed in the first fight and didn't buy it

Good news! It's the only way things might change for the almost inevitable third Vegas fight.

Money is the only language this cartel can understand.

I don't believe there will be a 3rd fight.

Canelo is in a tough division, though, and only so much he can do to avoid monsters like Jacobs/Derevyanchenko winner or the Saunders/Andrade winner.

I can see him falling back on a Golovkin rematch given it'll be easier than any of the guys I mentioned above.

Golovkin is prone to grow old overnight.

In a year Golovkin will still be by far the most lucrative option for Canelo, and the risk of getting stopped by him will drop even more, so the fight will likely happen if Golovkin will accept a smaller split.

IF he'll accept a smaller split???

If he wants the fight, probably a year from now, Golovkin will undoubtedly have to accept just 20-25%.

There are consequences for A) losing and B) running his mouth and being disrespectful to Canelo and GBP during the buildup.

Oscar and el nuevo campeon aren't going to forget.

He will definitely not accept 20-25% percent, and Canelo will again have no other option than to give him a more reasonable number, as that would still be the biggest paycheck for Canelo himself.

I think they will agree on 35% or so.
