Tommy Hearns

Saw a clip on YouTube of Tommy at the Canelo v Golovkin fight.

The bloke who says he was Muhammad Ali's best mate is talking to him. Used to have curly hair but is grey now. Gene Kilroy I think. There with a dolly bird.

Was shocked to see how badly poor Tommy spoke.

He moves slow and his speech is terrible. Very sad.

I would upload but don't know how to.

Phew! Threads today about the demise of Max Schmeling (not current news of course) then Jake LaMotta. I was very nervous about opening this one. Bad enough Jake and David Bey, I'm thinking 'No not Tommy as well'!

Tommy took some terrific shiit kickings.. This is what happens when you are extremely hittable and stay in the game past your due date... If you're somebody like Mike McCallum, Bernard Hopkins, Eder Jofre, Willie Pep, or Floyd Mayweather you can fight til 40 with no worries. You're not taking solid hits.

Yeah, too bad he didn't hit and run for a decision v Hagler. Thank goodness for The Hitman! In his prime he fought a full handful of fights v other great fighters that are classics and I remember the highlights of to this day.

He took too much punishment over the duration of his career but he was the definition of fighter. I wish him the best and I will always treat him with nothing but respect.

I cannot remember a fight that he was in that was boring. One might exist but his epic ATG battles blot it off the record.

:salut: :salut: :salut: :salut:

The Hitman forever!

I was always a huge Hitman fan too and his declining mental/physical state is NOT reason to feel pity for him. He got that way by doing what he loved to do and I have a hunch if he had it to do all over again he wouldnt do anything different. Tommy was the epitome of a RING WARRIOR who ALWAYS gave the fans their money's worth and he is a living legend.

As you point out, he is deserving of respect and NOT pity. :salut:
