Yeah watched it live, was very dull. DiBella tried his best, but looked a poor start in a tiny room.

This is obviously a dive or thrown fight. Ortiz didn't even bother to show up to the press conference! Tell tale sign. He's taking the envelope to dive or play soft. Another garbage Haymon choreograph set up to pump up the hwt fraud Wilder.

His flight was cancelled due to a hurricane, which as well all know, is caused by the hot air coming out of Wilders mouth, meeting the cold air of no one giving a toss

Wilder sounded pretty damned negative... Because he's been fighting bums Americans are telling him "Joshua is going to knock you out." or even "Ortiz is going to knock you out" -- He's bitching and complaining that Americans will support foreign fighters who will actually fight great opponents and not bums.
This is the real reason he's fighting Ortiz. Because 1 too many people told him that he's not a real champion and he'll get knocked out when he finally fights somebody good like Ortiz or Joshua.. Just maybe he'll get through the Ortiz fight.. I doubt it.. Maybe he'll get through the Joshua fight or give a good account of himself.. I doubt it.. Dibella is right when he says "People thought Deontay was crazy for taking this fight.. This is some crazy shiit!!"
That person had to be Al Haymon. He has both Wilder and Ortiz but he wants to keep them both undefeated.. So Wilder said "No more holding back and staying strong" because that's the kind of language Haymon uses when you tell him you want bigger fights, better fights, and more fights. Haymon thinks if he just builds somebody's undefeated record up he'll become a multi-million dollar attraction because fans have no idea who's a good fighter and who isn't. He thinks everybody is stupid, but fans know. They're not as stupid as promoters and advisers think. They stay away when you give them crap fights. If Deontay wins this fight his fan base will double overnight, because Ortiz is genuinely a great fighter who'll be like 4 months from his 39th birthday.. So Deontay is rolling the dice like every boxer must do sooner or later. Come on, he's got 38 pro fights.
How much has Ortiz lost to age??? ... He didn't look that tremendous in his last 2 fights, but I see him knocking Wilder out.. It's his last gasp. He's gotta deliver.

Haymon wants Wilder to win. Showtime wants Wilder to win. DiBella wants Wilder to win. Espinoza wants Wilder to win. Poor Ortiz doesn't show up for the press conference.
Guess who is gonna win?

1. We'll get a few press conferences with Wilder acting macho and talking that poo.
2. Ortiz will fail some VADA or weed or some stupid test
3. Wilder will use that as an excuse to cancel the fight.
4. Wilder will claim the canceled fight as a victort over Ortiz for himself as proof of what a great fighter he is.
I'm not interested.
I get your frustration, but #3 is a stupid thing to say.

I'm keeping a firm lid on my cynicism and expecting a good and intriguing fight to proceed without a hitch.
However if .... no let's not even go there.

Haymon is desperate for a star. PBC produced nothing. His best shot Spence had a sensational win vs Brook but has disappeared because Haymon hasn't the pull at the networks anymore and there is just no demand to see Spence other than from the small hardcore boxing fan group. As good as Spence is he's still miles and miles away from becoming a huge seller like Pac Tyson or Oscar. So Haymon is desperate. And Wilder is a major key fighter for him. Ortiz has no potential to be a Joshua level seller. Ortiz can obly be a B side. Haymon still holds hope he can manipulate Wilder into a big selling attraction with his fixing and smoke and mirrors and ducking of Joshua. It is very obvious Haymon is going to rig Ortiz to play soft or dive. All the evidence, all the factors everything points to it. Hope I'm wrong and we get a real fight. But Haymon desperately needs this for Wilder. And that's the only reason he set it up and didn't set it up two years ago. Haymon is desperate and Wilder's image and rep are in dire straights and they think beating Ortiz by fix will solve their problems.

The fact that Ortiz skipped the NYC press conf is a major clue. And they used the hurricane card as the excuse. Which is weak. No specifics. Like flooded basement or anything, just "the hurricane." My friend just flew down to Miami and it's fine down there. Ortiz had plenty of time to get ready. Flying to NY for a few hours isn't a big deal. He ducked the press conference because he knows he has to lose and doesn't feel like lying to the media. I'm going with that.

montrealsuper = eddie bravo on the joe rogan podcast. As for Ricky_ knowing someone over the internet is 100% someone... you're about as credible as the last two candidates who ran for president. As for the fight it should be solid though as much as wilder wants to talk about it not being that ortiz is old... thats what its going to be. Wilder has painted himself into a corner, there is only ONE guy who can legitimatize wilder as a real heavyweight and that is AJ. If fury wasnt messed up and Wlad hadnt retired they would have worked also. Anyone else is going to be excused away and thats his fault for fighting bums and mid tier warriors all the way to the top.

I can't imagine Luis Ortiz being brow-beaten by Haymon into any kind of dodgy dealing or subordinate role for the advancement of Deontay Wilder. Neither would it make sense for there to be any kind of financial skullduggery. What would it take when Ortiz had a guaranteed mega-money fight with Joshua in February which he has rurned his back on unless he wins on 4th November (5th November in England of course - there's sure to be fireworks

) Haymon couldn't pay him enough.
I royally pissed off many on here for not letting go of my theory that Wilder had no intentions of going to Moscow, but I really don't think there's anything that is not kosher about this fight. If I'm wrong then Olivier and De Niro have got nothing on Deontay Wilder either as boxers nor indeed as thespians.

This is what I fear... VADA is a private organization... Essentially they get to make up their own rules and manipulate the process... That's why it was perfectly fine with them that Stiverne tested positive for PED's and was allowed to go ahead with the fight... But they claimed Povetkin had one tenth of a nanogram of Ostarine in his last sample just before the fight could come off -- and NO FIGHT!! ... This is the exact same PED they claim they found in Bute's and Browne's last testing sample.. Funny thing.. these are the only positive tests for Ostarine in the last 5 years and they're all foreign boxers.. No Latinos or Americans.. They even changed the result of the judges.. Giving Jack the Bute fight -- which I think he won anyway, but I've never seen that happen.
I will not be at all surprised to find Ortiz also come down with a positive test for Ostarine and he has no idea in HELL how it could possibly happen -- and NO other testing entity can find a trace of the PED in ANY sample... Just like was the case for Bute, Browne, and Povetkin.

That's another suspicious aspect of this fight. Wilder ran like a bitch at the first sign of trace of PEDs in Povetkin. And now we are supposed to believe he wants to fight a known drug cheat? Wilder seems to have no problem with drug cheats as long as they are controlled by Haymon. But Povetkin has a fraction of a trace of a PED and Wilder screams like a bitch.
Frankly I will be shocked if Ortiz does not dive or play soft on Wilder. This has Haymon fix written all over it.

Very possibly Saad. Was there anything in particular that prompted that or just a general impression ?
Apart from our well known stances on the aborted Moscow excursion, is there anything I said above that doesn't make sense?
