I feel like the Wilder-Ortiz fight is similar and can be compared to the GGG/Canelo situation GBP clearly prolonged the negotiations to add more years to GGG similarly Al Haymon has picked Ortiz only after clocking some miles (travelling to Monaco/UK) before feeding him to Wilder.

Feel like a large % of people on this forum think Ortiz has a live chance but me personally I think Wilder is going to win (perhaps even comfortably)

Honestly don't know, and that's why I welcome it. Both have looked good against overmatched opponents, and now we'll find out who has the best shot against Joshua.

I suspect it comes down to whether Ortiz is knackered before Wilder's hurt.

I couldn't wish for a better boxing match out there and I'm one of Wilder his biggest criticasters out there. I really hope this fight will actually happen. I even have to admit, that if this fight does not happen I genuinly don't know anyone that could be an oke B-option instead of Ortiz. Dillian Whyte perhaps?
I will somehow feel sad if Ortiz gets tested by the Nevada lab, who's back from suspension at the same moment Wilder accepted this fight and they claim he's positive. To me, this lab is still corrupt.

If Wilder beats Ortiz in the ring in a fair way, he earned a shot at AJ.

I don't think Ortiz has the best cardio pal (age will be a massive factor I believe he is much older than it says online) and its at that moment Wilder go full Wilder mode and swing like his life depends on it and stop him

I just do not rate Ortiz as high as everyone else seems to. Sub par engine and fitness and all a little mauly (like Skelton to a mild degree). Uninspiring, messy, does not take it seriously. Seems a bit of a heavyweight Cuban trait that once they get some freedom, money and the taste of decent food, all ambition fecks off. Plus is bloody ancient.

i think many americans seem to get carried away with any cuban boxer ,ortiz seems the same talented but a bit lazy not great stamina and old .

I don't recall seeing Wilder against a southpaw?

I imagine that will make him look even more horribly awkward than usual

Both are horribly overrated. AJ was take apart Ortiz easy, he's looks terrible in his last few fights.

I rate Wilder. Despite the wildness he's a good fighter with serious one punch power.

He's also a good enough athlete to get through a tough 12 even with suspect technique (stiverne) which is also a ? Of big punchers

The sad truth might be we never saw a prime Ortiz. He's gradually got worse since the wrecking ball that burst on the scene a few years back.
I have serious questions about his stamina and age.
If Wilder stays safe early and has a decent output he will tire and stop Ortiz late.

Once Ortiz is worn out a bit I can see him being stopped late by one of Wilders awkward shots

I hope Ortiz puts up a good show.
Yes, you have to go back in time to see how good he is, and if that time has had an effect on him, well that's a shame.
Some things don't fade as much though. His long arms make a great defence. He can have his hand on the phone and his elbow still protects his kidney. Also his chin will hold up. Wilder will probably break his hands trying to KO him
The only weakness in Ortiz's defence that I see is straight shots between his guard to the bread basket.
I really hope he puts up a good showing. This has the potential to be a great fight, and I think it hinges on Ortiz more than Wilder.

Same. I know he's got a couple good wins but anytime I've sat down to watch him he's stank the place out.

Ortiz better than hes being giving credit for. Hes a unit. A very good counter puncher has good subtle movement can take punches and can punch a bit as well. The only big problem is the blueprint to beat hims there. Outpoint him. Boxing on the backfoot. Hes pretty static/slow. Box and move. If wilder goes out looking for a k/o tho he,ll get done.

Ortiz works off his opponent. He wants guys to come at him. He also lets guys hit him to get his own shots off knowing that he,ll most probably outlast them. Takes shots to get his own off. Malik scott just boxed and ran for his life. Made ortiz look worse than he actually is. Could be an interesting fight bearing in mind wilders chin looks a bit shaky. I think he,ll go down malik scotts route...box on the backfoot. Trying not to fall into ortiz,s range. Ortiz good up close. I think ortiz will catch up with him at some point.

Probably AJ vs Ortiz, unless the Wilder vs Ortiz fight never happens for even more mistakes by the Nevada lab but still very nice match!
