Hagler hit Hearns low several times, but he just kept fighting like a bitch. He should have done what a real warrior like Kovalev done. slumped down and complained to the ref. That's how real men fight, none of this fighting nonsense. If only Hearns was as tough as Kovalev he could have gotten a bunch of whiny fanboys to call him the REAL winner, instead of merely going down as being in one of the greatest fights in history.

A bit off topic but is Hearns the best example of a fighter carrying their power up with them?, you always hear of guys moving up saying they will be punching harder at the new weight but seldom to they KO guys like they used to

Mike wasn't ducked, he just came a little late to the party. Nobody alive wanted Duran or hearns to fight the unknown McCallum instead of each other and hagler. Mike was a great fighter, just more in the class of Chavez than those guys.

At least hearns didn't get completely screwed like Castillo did. One of the worst robberies ever, I can't rewatch that one. I prefer the rematch when corrales got his comeuppance.

It was a good stoppage... It was back and forth, but Castillo was a complete dishrag when the referee stepped in to save him... He was getting pounded out

McCallum was ducked...SERIOUSLY ducked... Julian Jackson was really bad news. He knocked undefeated Terry Norris out in brutal fashion and was 29-0 when McCallum ripped out his body and ran over him in 2 rounds.. That made McCallum 27-0... McCallum won the WBA Super Welterweight Title a month after Hearns beat James Hutchings at 154.. Hearns didn't fight again for 7 months so there was a window for them to unify.

McCallum was in the mix, winning and fighting for World Middleweight Titles when Leonard was fighting at 160... Leonard didn't want him.. None of those guys wanted to fight McCallum because he was too good... He would have beaten all of them and he was certainly no Chavez Jr... Chavez leads with his head and absorbs punches non-stop.. He can't box or punch and McCallum was a terrific boxer-puncher.

Tommy Hearns was the most exciting fighter I have ever seen. Hardly a dull round anywhere in his career. Even the so called bicycle fight with Benitez was great.

He makes GGG look like solid, safe, and cautious. The impending sense of danger (either way) and heightened drama was always there. The meters went off the scale against Hagler, Leonard and Duran etc.

Tommy Hearns is pure class & he would never have done that.

Tommy would have fought until he could fight no more & he wouldn't have complained one iota; this is the reason why I got so narked with the late, great Emmanuel Steward's pathetic excuses for Tommy's defeats, especially the Hagler one with some nonsense about someone massaging the Hitman's legs.
