Badou Jack scoffed at the notion that he’s avoiding Dmitry Bivol.

Jack told ESPN.com for a story posted Monday afternoon that he didn’t give up his WBA world light heavyweight title Saturday because he doesn’t want to fight the hard-hitting Bivol (11-0, 9 KOs). The former WBC super middleweight champion said he relinquished his version of the WBA’s 175-pound championship as part of an agreement he made with the WBA before he fought then-champion Nathan Cleverly last month.

“They’re working on something big, so I’ve just got to stay patient,” Jack told ESPN.com. “It was part of the agreement for us even getting the fight with Cleverly, that we had to vacate it after we won.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next,” Jack said. “I’m ready for whoever’s next and the big checks. I want to fight Adonis Stevenson. He’s a big name, and he’s probably the biggest name in the light heavyweight division now that Andre Ward has retired. If there’s a bigger money fight, give that fight to me. If it’s Kovalev, give me him.”

He's got a point. Compared to Stevenson or Kovalev, fighting Bivol is a very high-risk/low-reward strategy.

Only hardcore fight fans even know who Dmitry Bivol is, so the pay day would be MUCH lower than a fight with either Kovalev or Stevenson.

That is exactly what he is doing - ducking a guy with 11 fights because of high risk/low reward. Jack is not getting Stevenson any time soon, so he will be just waiting or fighting somebody worse than Bivol.

"Got to stay patient." - Not hard for a guy who fights 1.5 times a year as is. Completely uninteresting career path.

Jacks one of my favourite fighters currently. I feel he really didn’t receive the proper recognition for his achievements at SW, also he was involved in the best fight of 2017 so far (in my opinion) against the favourite Degale. He’s made a splash at LH with his demo of Cleverly. In terms of him being tested at this weight, I would prefer it be against a “name”, as in one of the popular names, as he is a solid champion from one weight division below. If he can get the big fights, great career move, streamlined for money and deserved given his efforts so far.

Using the same logic that you have just articulated, Golovkin must have also "ducked" Billy Joe Saunders because he was receiving a better "reward" against Canelo.

Boxers are known as "PRIZEfighters" for a reason and seeking an opponent that provides the better pay cheque is a very reasonable and normal thing to do.

If he fights Stevenson then fair enough. He won'#t fight Stevenson though.

He'll fight someone like Chilemba, Pascal or Chad "Glass" Jawson.

I should pretend to be EO and ask: when exactly was the Saunders fight agreed? Were there any contingencies? Do you have a screenshot of a contract signed by Saunders?

Bulljiving with Bull Shi7. Only a fool would vacate a title belt with no concrete plans. Jack has no plans in concrete. He ran away from Bivol and is hoping his protectors come up with something that makes the duck of Bivol look acceptable. He's stalling and trying to buy time with BS.

And it also sounds like more lies saying he only got the shot at Cleverly under the condition that he had to surrender the belt after winning it. And people actually believe all this BS???!!!??? Lying is the new truth. Never have I read so much BS lies in one story than all this horseshi7 BS Jack is trying to deceive with. He clearly is afraid of Bivol and wants easy set up patsy fights for easy money. Bivol is a beast.

I believe that Jack got the Cleverly fight under condition of vacating, but that condition was from Mayweather and Haymon.

I also don't think that Badou himself would duck Bivol. He just demonstrated mafia like obedience among Haymon fighters.

Actually Saunders published the dialogue he'd exchanged with Tom Loeffler. The Brit directly questioned Golovkin's reasoning for refusing to sign the contract, despite the terms of the bout being agreed between K2 and Billy Joe's team at a GGG-Canelo press conference. And if you've seen the YouTube videos, he said these things to Golovkin's face.

Neither Loeffler nor Sanchez nor Golovkin refuted any of his claims.
