Maybe because Chamberlain was 7'1" X 290 with a 101" reach and extremely quick feet -- with a telephone pole jab and murderous straight right??? ... Chamberlain's best setup with those historically superior assets in the long History of Boxing was from the outside... With his massive shoulders, arms, and fists (never seen before, even for a man of Chamberlain's height) all he'd have to do is shoot killer jabs at your chest and rip thunderous straight rights at your chest any time you tried to duck inside.. He was a great athlete and only needed to smash you cold one time.
If you ever DID manage to get inside and grab Chamberlain around the waist???? ... All he would have to do is savagely right hook you above the left ear and you would require brain surgery.. Grabbing and tying up an opponent like Chamberlain would be impossible for Heavyweights of his era.
It would be something like Sonny Liston vs Floyd Patterson.. Floyd had more experience and arguably more skills than Sonny had -- but he was getting murdered every second he was in there with Sonny -- because the match-up was IMPOSSIBLE for Patterson from a size and strength aspect.
And that's why Ali refused to sign to fight Chamberlain... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF57P1uUG0s

Mine was 3-1, what was your record?Kalan wrote:It was better than yours... and actually better than Wilt's.
What is your proof of Wilt actually being able to throw these punches as you describe?Kalan wrote:with a telephone pole jab and murderous straight right??? .

1. Cus D'Amato told you during one of your many conversations.
2. You saw Wilt spar during your many visits to Catskill.
3. You sparred Wilt.
4. Wilt whispered it in your ear while you were 'performing'.
5. You just made it up because you love Wilt.

Of course not, he's you. On the far fetched possibility that he isn't, have you ever seen a 70+ year old man that thinks this watered down era is the greatest ever?BoxBuzz wrote:I don't see the evidence pointing toward him being young.....he demonstrates an awful lot of info, and has remarkably set in stone opinions for being a youth.
usually that sort of curmudgeon eccentricity takes time to develop..................

Maybe because the list isn't "Worst free throw shooter in NBA history", if it were he'd be on it for sure.keithmoonhangover wrote:Why is Wilt not on the list?

I used to work in a mental hospital and there wasn't a single resident who was crazy enough to think that. Even the guy that though he was driving an invisible bus wasn't that crackers.SaadOffTheDeck wrote: have you ever seen a 70+ year old man that thinks this watered down era is the greatest ever?
You're being typical goofball BuzzBox talking about fictional characters like Paul Bunyan.. Wilt Chamberlain was real.. and the contract he negotiated to fight Muhammad Ali was also real https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF57P1uUG0s Wilt was serious and Ali was bluffing.BoxBuzz wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:What was your record?Kalan wrote:

Ali refused to fight Paul Bunyan as well...for the same reasons.
But Kalan has a point, Wilt and Paul had arms so long that it rendered an inside game irrelevant.
Now as far as Paul Bunyan is concerned, it was demonstrated publically on many occasions that he had a "telephone pole jab" which he used to KO telephone poles AND mighty standing Oaks in a single shot....(He even brought down the entire Midwest electric grid on one occasion...with a single playful jab to a high tension wire pole) .......and of course he used his "murderous straight right" to KO Babe (his blue ox) at a party where they were both getting entirely too rowdy. But I can't remember any documented accounts of Wilt's equivalent arsenal.
Perhaps Kalan will share with us the stories where he witnessed first hand, Wilt USING these obviously well documented attributes. Otherwise, I'm sure he wouldn't be mentioning them
NOT so meaninglessly APerno ... Not if you enjoy fast cars... fast women... fast money... and happening hideaways and nightclubs and like Wilt did...APerno wrote:It is October 21, 2017 and Wilt is back yet again; the days meaninglessly slip from the calendar but Wilt endures.
