The World Boxing Council, through President Mauricio Sulaiman, has issued a ruling - according to its Clean Boxing Program protocol - to withdraw their sanction of Deontay Wilder's scheduled defense on November 4th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, against Luis Ortiz.
The ruling was made after it was revealed last week that Ortiz failed a pre-fight drug test.
Further, it was ordered that Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) will fight his mandatory challenger, Bermane Stiverne. - scene

TBH I thought it would be another top ATG like Charles Martin or Eric Esch.

Imagine if Stiverne fails Wilder's anti-doping test.

Team Ortiz said even "sorry" on their twitter account so you can stfu before you blame Wilder.

They even said that Ortiz took that stuff.

Since Wilder is the only fighter in history to get blamed for his opponents ped use, he may as well be the only fighter in history to catch shit for keeping his belt by satisfying his mandatory.

It's bizarre, though I have to admit the nutjobs around here got me paying more attention to him. When most were saying stiverne was going to expose him was the first time I cheered him on.

I wonder where that leaves Ortiz. Whether he's a wrong'un or whether he's not, he must be cursing his decision to challenge Wilder for his WBC belt when he had a next-up guaranteed shot at Joshua for at least double the purse.

Has he burnt that bridge or will he be the next challenger for Joshua or Pulev? I haven't heard that the WBA have removed him as their mandatory.

Assuming they haven't are they likely to do so or would they regard this WBC / VADA/ Ortiz situation as having nothing to do with them?

With those on here either defending or reproaching Deontay Wilder, am I the only one who is just bitterly disappointed that we won't get the chance to see Wilder fight Ortiz?

I don't give a sh1t about apportioning blame, I'm just gutted. Instead of a great pick 'em fight we're back to this predictable eyesore. I don't want to see Stiverne fight Wilder. Breazeale yes. Wilder no.

Oh well, take the positives. At least this shit-fest will soon be over after pretty much a whole year of speculation (always assuming Stiverne can pass the PED test), and secondly we've still got Anthony Joshua who can be counted on to defend his title against quality opposition without us having to endure this bullshit circus every bloody time

I totally agree, I just get annoyed with all the OTT Wilder hate and conspiracy theories.

I can't say I'm bitterly disappointed. It was much more interesting than stiverne, but, as I said, the UFC that night has my full attention. Really stupid to even have boxing in NY that night.

The bottom line is Donkey likes to fight cans and he's not willing to step up in competition. He's drooling at AJ and he's just keep staying safe till that fight happens. ATG balls.

He could've fought both Povetkin and Ortiz without that title on the table. Also Andrzej Wawrzyk was ducked via anti-doping test by Wilder.

Wasn't this something many of us predicted six days ago when news of Luis Ortiz's failed PED test results were announced?

The funny thing is this is a slightly better stack of bums than the stack scratched from the bottom of the bum-barrel Wilder has fought before he became a champion. Just to name a few of them: Ty 'The Tyger ' Cobb, Dustin 'Worm' Nichols, Harold 'Hard Rock' Sconiers, Audley Hugh Harrison , Siarhei 'White Wolf' Liakhovich, Nicolai 'Stone Man' Firtha, Malik 'I blink before I go down' Scott and Jason 'The Sensation ' Gavern. And this is a small part of bums that Wilder fought. The guy who selected these bums for Wilder is a very good bum-scouter.

Just a horrible fight man! Stiverne lost his title to Wilder, has done feck all since and was lucky in one of his fight since Wilder easily beat him! How the hell does he get another shot after doing fukk all for two years since his tame effort against Wilder! I love boxing and have since I was a child but it drags me down at times and this is one of those times!

The fact that Wawrzyk failed the test is one thing that lends this credibility. Nobody would bother to discredit Wawrzyk unfairly ... unless of course it was to throw conspiracy theorists off the scent - A cynic might have thought he wasn't dangerous enough to fail a PED Test so it must be on the level.

Sorry, but I predicted this to happen several months ago, with almost perfect dates, the correct names involved, correct fights not happening, correct reasons, everything.

So don't act like this wasn't set up, it's the predicted Wilder act.

Terrible fight but slightly better than no fight at all.

I have something to root for: Stiverne being KOd. I'm sick of Stiverne and his "I have bigger fish to fry," crap.
