Paul Economides beat Artif Ali (11-1) for the Central area title in 8

Big, big win for Paul last night. After (allegedly as not seen it) getting fleeced against Ashley Lane earlier in the year (Lane is now commonwealth champ) Paul went to Barnsley and scored an upset win over Ali. A very good fight, with Paul dominating him for big stretches and then stopping him on the ropes in the eighth.
Hopefully that Lane rematch is going to happen!

It was...He may have been robbed against Lane, but a six rounder on a non-televised show, you get no pity points. Therefore he asked Coldwell to get him a fight as an away guy to try and rebuild himself with a big win (in relative terms)

He was unlucky against Sean Davis on sky close fight he took at short notice. Wudnt mind seeing that rematch very close fight first time round

Yeah, fought a six rounder the week before, dropped weight fast to make Davis. Hearn was going on that Paul won it by two.
You get sympathy for that loss as people have eyes. It is what made the Lane fight so annoying. Had the goodwill and the door opening, and then boom.
Hopefully he is back on track, and yes, I would love to see the Davis rematch!

Quite tiring reading the 'robbed' of stories. Paul did not get 'fleeced' or against me. We had a hard close fight. Paul was 1 point ahead after 4 rounds, he didn't hit me in the last two therefore he lost those and I won the fight.
Also good to remember I was S told on the Tuesday I would box Paul on the Saturday. I cut 16lb (9lb) night before. I was also the away fighter. Very hard for the home fighter to get fleeced. The fight was close and I edged it, the people that scream robbery need to show some respect for themselves.
As for Paul I wish him all the best and if he gets in the right position I will more than happily take him to school after a proper camp and if it's on TV even better

Hey Ash, I did say allegedly at the start as admit to never having seen the fight, just the reports.
As you say, there were factors for you like weight. The fact you schooled a very good fighter after next time out shows you are a talent.
The fight would be excellent, and BTW, great win against Michael. Have seen that fight and you looked excellent.
