Povetkin is the rank 2 of the heavyweight division, he's the 2nd best heavyweight boxer over the past 10 years with the rank 1 being retired. If you don't care about boxers then it's better that you leave this site.

Keeps him ranked, and earns him some more money, but he's not really in the World Title mix anymore.
Hopefully he looks less mediocre than he looked last time against Rudenko.

If the Rudenko fight was any indicator, then I fear Sascha is not the fighter he was. He's 38 now and there are quite a few Klitschko-size guys holding the belts or planning to, life isn't getting any easier for him.
I hope his last fight was just a blip because we have recently lost Wlad, Tyson F, Ortiz might be finished, Parker is struggling to convince, Haye seems to be finished as a force at world level, Chagaev's gone, Briggs, Ustinov, Oquendo all shedding the last remnants of relevance, I don't want to see the back of Povetkin just yet (although it might be a good thing for Caldo 's blood pressure.

Povetkin is 2nd best HW now - most likely wins vs Wilder by KO
i bet he fights Helenius or Hammer now and wins by KO, next he aims to fight Parker

But who dares to fight him? Wilder certainly not, because he's scared and is still protected heavely.

I don’t know why Russia and other countries permit their athletes to be "drug tested" by some mafia outfit in Las Vegas.

What a crying shame we never got the chance to find out. it would have been a great fight. It's funny but I don't recall any of the posters who habitually call me stupid for entertaining the idea that Povetkin was the victim of a conspiracy (almost exclusively Americans) ever express any regret that this intriguing match-up never went ahead.
Even I was a huge fan of Deontay Wilder (I think back then I was a fan, maybe not a huge fan) I would still have been absolutely gutted by the cancellation of this fight.

Maybe becouse RUSADA was announced as non-compliant, two top executives "suddenly" died at their prime shortly after it and the director run away from Russia? Comparing to this - Vegas looks like boyscout

Povetkin needs to be in the ring, that's the only place we can see this lunacy ended. He was good, but the past accomplishments/major let down against Klitschko don't mean anything now. What does he have left. It's fortunate the division is so weak he just might get in there and make a statement.

I don’t see the IBF, WBO and WBA ordering bouts between their champions (Anthony Joshua & Joseph Parker) and Alexander Povetkin anytime soon, especially after testing positive twice for banned substances during 2016.
Neither Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua nor Joseph Parker would be willing to travel to Russia to defend their belts against a proven drug cheat.
Even lesser-known fighters like Tony Bellew have explained their reluctance to face Russians in their homeland… stating that they’re “not going to Russia… not going under any circumstances.”
It’s interesting to see that ESPN don’t even include Povetkin amongst their divisional ratings.
Who on earth wants to fight this man? Even Andrew Ryabinskiy’s millions would inevitably be deemed insufficient to tempt any of the current world champions to agree to provide Povetkin with yet another world title opportunity.
Even if Alexander Povetkin would agree to challenge for one of the world titles away from his home turf, how likely would any promoter in the UK or the US be able to persuade the paying public to part with their hard-earned cash in order to watch their man face a proven drug cheat?
