20 years ago. The likes of Flanagan are relatively unknown these days.mickey1975 wrote:Fwank set the bar high with Hamed-Kelley. Michael Jackson in camp, Adidas "here on business" ads all over the telly and billboards in The Big Apple.
Ok, but Eddie is the man now so needs to match that.BigDoofus wrote:20 years ago. The likes of Flanagan are relatively unknown these days.mickey1975 wrote:Fwank set the bar high with Hamed-Kelley. Why? He's done two shows selling out Wembley in the last three years. The landscape has changed significantly.mickey1975 wrote:Ok, but Eddie is the man now so needs to match that.BigDoofus wrote:20 years ago. Can Eddie do with AJ what Fwank done with Naz? I think he could tbh. AJ is probably the biggest commodity in boxing at the moment. AJ as a fighter I'm a fan. I'm not a fan of his image he's created. It's a massive pile of wank.mickey1975 wrote:Ok, but Eddie is the man now so needs to match that.BigDoofus wrote:20 years ago. I think GGG and Canelo have miles bigger profiles worldwide. AJ isn't big news over there.Stuarty30 wrote:Can Eddie do with AJ what Fwank done with Naz? I think he could tbh. Not even an argument - just a reasonable point about the shift between Britain and America regarding boxing over the past few decades. If you want to be/continue to be an arsehole fair enough.mickey1975 wrote:I can't even be bothered with arguing with you today, you boring, clueless twat.dirk2686 wrote:Why? everytime I read posters getting almost to fisticuffs over nothing I get Alan Patridge's reaction at the end of this clip in my head, but it's too niche ever to quote it.dirk2686 wrote:Not even an argument - just a reasonable point about the shift between Britain and America regarding boxing over the past few decades. No Partridge quote will ever be too niche on a forum like thisclopixolacuphase wrote:everytime I read posters getting almost to fisticuffs over nothing I get Alan Patridge's reaction at the end of this clip in my head, but it's too niche ever to quote it.dirk2686 wrote:Not even an argument - just a reasonable point about the shift between Britain and America regarding boxing over the past few decades. Past few decades? Yes, I remember sitting through Hagler, Leonard,Tyson, Floyd etc and thinking "America must be sick of these, I bet they'd prefer Matchroom's light middleweight saga".dirk2686 wrote:Not even an argument - just a reasonable point about the shift between Britain and America regarding boxing over the past few decades. Thats because wilder can hardly sell out birmingham alabama but joshua could sell out wembley twice over, wilder will get smashed to bits if he faces AJ,i think brazeale would put up a more competitive fight than wilder, beyonce wilder is poo and after 30 odd fights is still green and wilddirk2686 wrote:Like it or not American boxing is in a bit of a rut whilst the sport is booming here.
Two decades ago the idea of an American, undefeated, knockout artist heavyweight champion coming to England to fight the British version of himself would have been largely unthinkable, yet now that seems not only possible but the likely scenario if Joshua and Wilder meet.

tough though. not sure if dibella should really be fearful.
Perhaps not yet but the potential is there surely?mickey1975 wrote:I think GGG and Canelo have miles bigger profiles worldwide.
