Haha

Looks like the old Schaefdog isnt a fan of Hearns "Get your popcorrrn reaaady" impression...

All nokes aside,Eddie has done an unbelievable job with Anthony Joshua.Yes the fact hes on Sky is a huge part of this and the constant exposure he gets there has undoubtedly helped create the hype around AJ but if you look at all the sponsorship deals not just in this country but abroad aswell and the tv appearances at the right times in the right places the exposure and marketability thats been put in place has neen fantastic to be honest.

Its alright saying my 100 yr old grandmother could have done it with the resources Hearn had available but it requires somebody competent at promoting to lead this.

Im not sure Frank would have done as good of a job with the same resources available.Hearn has a complete understanding of the balance between building a corporate star that huge sponsors will love and understanding the mentality of a young modern audience.

I think its a f*cking beautiful thing how Hearn has ruffled their feathers......first we have Lou 'captain camp' DiBella throwing a b*tch fit, now Sleazy Schaef gets in on the act with an implication that Eddie was being racist

They are simply showing their level of concern. Trying to devalue Hearn in perceptions through an element of fear I suspect. I am not a matchroom fan, even cancelled Sky two years ago over the mismatches but am now considering getting it back as they have improved and I can see some decent content, but not quite enough to tempt me all the way.

As for AJ, its all well and good saying he is easy to promote, but they created this machine and matched him right and got the right stuff out in the public domain to a target audience to CREATE that now seemingly easy to promote person.

They're both doing good things. I've no problem with either of them.

Fwank has already done it, on a much bigger scale worldwide, with Naz.

Class video...

I'd say eddie wet himself laughing at that..
Eddie gets stick but he is top dog by a distance and is delivering for fans and fighters..

Every promoter in America should be nervous

This wbss thing is pretty big business. Schaefer is probably already second behind hearn a year or so after starting. No need for him to worry.

I know i know and I did think somebody would pull me up on that but Im thinking more in terms of how promoting/ideas and the difference in target audience have changed since then.I think Frank got left behind but i will say they are getting better especially since the BT deal started.

They're both good promoters. Golden boy was a far more powerful force under Schaefer and obviously Eddie has done a good job in the UK market.

It's just feisty talk from a competitor, that's all.

Hearn must be licking his lips at the free publicity he has been getting from other promoters of late.
It used to be just Warren who would rabbit on about him, now everyone seems to be.

I'm not sure why Dibella and Shaffer both tried to imply he is racist because of the Deontay Wilder impression he did, when there are videos of him doing impressions of loads of different people in boxing.

He didn't stop. He just no longer had the platform he once had by creating his own niche channel.

I hope they are nervous. Eddie going to the States will benefit us with big fights. Also we may get to see Jacobs and the US stable fight on these shores.

It's beyond retarded that haymon hasn't tried to get fighters over there.

I think it's harder to sell non British fighters to the British public. We're quite jingoistic in that sense. It's not like the US boxing landscape whereby it doesn't seem so nationalistic. I mean outside of Mexican-American fanbase of course.

Yeah but it's normally when they're fighting a British fighter. I dont think you could sell say Spence vs Thurman in the same way. Now of course you could just purely match them up against brits, but Hearn probably wouldn't wanna do that as there would be a good chance that in certain instances, some of his potential cash cows would end up being derailed.

I would like to see it though.

I was talking about them fighting Brits or even being on the undercard. Not that I believe if you wanted to put Thurman/Spence on in the UK that nobody would care.

Ah okay. Regarding the undercard thing though, I think it would cost too much. Even if you have a PPV event in the UK, obviously the cost of the PPV is a lot lower than in the US and aside from that, the two main event fighters tend to take up the majority of the purse. I can't see Haymon fighters being happy with the money that would be on offer. They're used to Al overpaying.

Well, they're really used to sitting around and doing nothing. He has hundreds of fighters. I guarantee you someone like Porter would have come over and fought an eggington. Peterson doesn't make huge money. Plenty of them.

Well yeah that's true  ... I think the issue for Hearn also though, is that by putting some of the US fighters on the undercard, he'd be taking away from a potential brit being in that spot instead. I wonder if he will work with more Haymon fighters in the US though.
