Mateusz Tryc is one of the best Polish prospects now :TU:

he was in European Championships quarterfinals on amateurs, he had a terrible record in WSB but was relatively young and now improved a lot, has the power to stop his opponents not like the others prospects in Poland. at this stage of his career he got a decent opponents in just 6 months

I think Kamil Gardzielik has a good amateur resume too. Can you name some other up-and-coming Polish pro prospects with good amateur credentials?

Gardzielik as i hear from some people arguably lost to Karpec, Tryc has significantly more power and i really like his boxing

Stepien is multiple Polish LHW champ at amateurs, now 7-0 6KO with wins over Norbert Dabrowski that gave hard fight to Eleider Alvarez and KO win over unknown and then undefeated Cuban Dayron Lester. he punches very well to the body and brings respectable power, not shown any issues with stamina and chin so far. his trainer was Andrzej Gmitruk, ex-Adamek trainer and said that Stepien and Adamek are similar level of talent

Pawel Wierzbicki was a Polish champion at amateurs now at pros 3-0 but in last fight he showed up terrible and there are rumours that his way of life and training is not really professional

Jordan Kulinski had some success at amateurs but he clearly has stamina issues and is pretty pillow-puncher - dont expect much from him

Przemyslaw Runowski is young talented welter, 23 years old, already 16 fights, good technical skills but lacks power in his punches - i think he is on a similar level as Syrowatka in terms on talent and Syrowatka was a pillow puncher too but improved it and KO'ed Davies JR in England, Runowski beaten the same opponent as Horn in 2015 in pretty similar fashion

Adam Balski was a junior champion at amateurs, the most talented from Polish CW prospects (after Cieslak got caught on PEDs and now moved to HW), in his last fight he stopped Lukasz Janik in 3 or 4 rounds, i think he is already top 30 CW and soon can compete with the likes of Masternak or Mchunu, Balski seems to have a decent chin so far. Balski is with Gus Curren now and he is a sparringpartner of Tomasz Adamek

Igor Jakubowski was a Polish champ, Euro silver medalist and at 2016 olympics lost to Okolie, i dont expect him to have any success at CW but he says he will maybe fight at LHW (i doubt it because he is a pretty big guy)
another Polish olympian from Rio and Euro silver medalist is Middleweight Tomasz Jabłoński but i dont see any progress or even regress in his boxing - he also should soon move at pros

Kamil Laszczyk - a lot of people say he is a very very talented featherweight but unfortunately had some health problems (anemia or something i not sure) and his career stopped also had troubles to find an opponent because he is unknown, now he says that everything is ok with his health and can fight at 100%

Marek Jedrzejewski, super feather, as far as i know not had impressive amateur career, he fought all of his bouts in Germany so far but has a very good KO power (11-0, 10KO), in September i have seen news that Mayweather sr is interested in coach him if he gets American visa

how i rank these prospects personally:
very good: Stepien, Balski
good: Tryc, Runowski, Jedrzejewski
mediocre: Wierzbicki (lost some faith in him after last fight and when his fight in summer was canceled because of his not professional lifestye), Jakubowski, Laszczyk
poor: Gardzielik, Kulinski, Jablonski

Wow...much deeper and more comprehensive than I ever expected!! Thanks!!! :OhYes:

I'll be cutting & pasting this to save it elsewhere. Imagine if this forum had more contributors who are experts on their country's prospects as you are on your country's what a gold mine this place would be!! :salut:

Maybe you can answer this puzzling question about former hot prospect Kamil Laszczyk (still unbeaten at 24-0). The guy had impressive amateur credentials (at least at the youth/junior level) and started impressively as a pro. But after peaking in 2013-14 he has regressed to fighting 6-rounders against scrubs...as they say in the 'hood, wassup wit' dat?

Do you think maybe he left the amateurs too early and is trying to make up for the experience his amateur credentials lack by fighting glorified sparring sessions? :maybe:

as i said, Laszczyk had health problems related to Anemia, also often had knee injury, next problem was that it was hard to find a decent opponent for him because he was dangerous undefeated prospect, unknown, no big money for fight him, and this weight category is not really popular in Europe therefore hard to find opponents and sparringpartners in Poland for him - that's why he was trying in USA

he was once ranked 2 in WBO and had to fight for vacant title but then his health problems show up

i always try my best to answer questions about Polish boxing and it is nice when someone appreciate it even if sometimes i edit it multiple times due to my problem with English as i use Polish and Spanish in everyday life, and English only to talk about stuff online, like about boxing here, so thanks for appreciating :TU:

btw i described Laszczyk potential in boxing as ''mediocre'' not because he lacks talent, but because i do not really believe that he will prevail his health issues at all

Your English is as good as half the Current Scene posters (including some native English speakers). Keep up the great work!! I was so overwhelmed by all the names you listed that I havent yet had time to digest the specifics on Laszczyk or others. That will take some TIME... :OhYes:

in Polish pro boxing there are 2 significant coaches
Andrzej Gmitruk trained likes of Tomasz Adamek (i think it was the best Adamek with him, Adamek decreased a lot with Bloodworth), Mateusz Masternak (after he went to Germany, and then trained with a friend Wilczewski in a small town in Poland together with Wach, both Master and Wach became stiff, rigid in the ring, lost flexibility and decreased in movement on the ring, now Master is with Gmitruk again), Maciej Sulecki, Pawel Stepien, Adam Balski, Michal Cieslak (both do not train with him anymore because Gmitruk cannot train a lot of fighters as he has some personal problems related to health and family, he now is a commentator more than a trainer)
Russia-born Fiodor Lapin (he is a guy that is very anti-PEDs and has own rules and values - said that any fighter caught on PED, doesnt matter if took them intentionally or not, cannot train with him anymore - it is a case of Wawrzyk that needs another trainer now) - Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (the only Polish champion based all of his career in Poland before Glowacki beaten Huck), Krzysztof Glowacki (Lapin always was saying that Glowacki got more talent than the likes of Kolodziej for example which he trained too and was seen as a CW prospect before), Artur Szpilka (some people after his loss to Jennings said that he needs a better trainer than this eastern euro unknown guy, but did he really improved with Shields? Szpilka left Lapin after Adamek win, which was like betrayal for Lapin, and Szpilka talked some shit on him in interviews like if he really want to get great and champ he needs to move to USA and was telling that Shields is like father for him, before he talked such stuff about Lapin, and Lapin said that Szpilka can never get back to his gym, which is good because Szpilka is confictable and i cannot imagine him to train at one gym with Wlodarczyk now because they are in conflict, sometimes Zimnoch trains there too, now Szpilka is back to Poland, and there is no one to coach him, Lapin rejected, Gmitruk cant do that, so who? there are some other trainers but Szpilka's ego is too high to train with an unknown coach.) Rafal Jackiewicz, Albert Sosnowski, Lukasz Janik, Andrzej Wawrzyk

i think that these 2 trainers should concentrate on coaching no more than 4 best fighters, Lapin once was a coach of more than 10 fighters, some just very untalented, and it was a trouble as he should to concentrate on the best ones

amateurs in Poland sucks now, a lot of corruption in boxing federation, no olympic medal since 1992, boxing federation in Poland is ruled like on communist era standards, and at pros we have only 2 good trainers, trainers at amateurs represent the old-school of boxing but boxing changed a lot from 70s or 80s, that is the problem more than lack of talent in Poland - these talents often stop to do boxing, some have then law-related problems, some have just bad habits in the ring because of bad trainings with bad trainers

current situation in amateur boxing in Poland is sad, as we are nation that got 8 gold, 9 silver and 26 bronze medal at olympics, most recognized in USA from these old Polish great amateurs in USA is probably Zbigniew Pietrzykowski that faced Muhammad Ali at 1960 olympic final, but the last was bronze of Wojciech Bartnik in 1992
