Dillian Whyte vs. Robert Helenius at Principality Stadium on October 28

Dillian Whyte can edge closer to a world title fight when he faces Robert Helenius on the Anthony Joshua-Kubrat Pulev bill, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The Brixton heavyweight battles the towering Helenius for the WBC Silver belt on the same night as bitter rival Joshua's world title fight with Pulev at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff on October 28.

"This is a fight we have been working on for some time and I'm pleased to add it to the huge October 28 show in Cardiff," said promoter Eddie Hearn.

"I think we have made it very clear, we want to make Dillian Whyte versus Deontay Wilder and this WBC Silver title will put us in prime position.

"Helenius is a giant of a man with plenty of experience and this is a tough test for Dillian, it's going to be explosive."

Helenius (25-1-KO16) is best known in Britain for his contentious points win over Dereck Chisora, who Whyte defeated last December in one of the best fights of 2016.

The 'Nordic Nightmare', a former European champion, has welcomed the challenge of coming to these shores to face another Londoner.

Del Boy beat him years ago, and I don’t think he’s better now than what he was then

Whyte is not a headliner. You're right.. The only boxers he'll main event against Joshua and Wilder.. A Chisora rematch could headline a card, but then Chisora has more history with the British public.

Several years ago I was convinced that Helenius would be the next HW ruler. I was wrong, obviously.
Anyway, he still can punch, DW should be very cautious.
It might be very interesting fight.

I think really Del Boy vs Whyte is a chief support type fight. Simply because of the standard they are at. If it does headline it should no way be PPV and probably be a York hall type venue. Then guys just aren’t big enough names to carry it any bigger imo.

The fight itself was an absolute cracker and would have every chance of stealing the show

Not sure why, but I fancy Helenius to KO Whyte. It will either be that or a Whyte decision.

No, I just post about it every day. Not a big fan of the heavyweights these days. I like Whyte ok, helenius is useless.

Excel Arena, Wembley arena. They need more respect than York Hall type venues. Two very good British HW's surely. But I agree, best thing is chief support..

I'd definitely pull up a stream for that rematch. Outside of Joshua/wlad, that might have been the best heavyweight fight since holyfield/savarese.

helenius sucks. always overrated (esp his power) by the euro jizz fest crew, got beaten up years ago by del, turned to staggering putty by duhaup, and looked like shitt azgainst an even fatter opponrnt last time..

easy win whyte.

It doesn't really matter what happened in the Chisora - Helenius fight, because Helenius had an injured shoulder in that fight, thus it was hardly an indicator of who is actually better. However, the Duhaupas - Helenius fight shows us that Helenius is likely clearly inferior to Whyte.

However, if Whyte gets a decisive win over Helenius, it would still be a good addition to his resume, since currently a narrow victory over Chisora is all he's got.

Yep... The Helenius-Duhaupas fight tells you exactly why this fight was made... Helenius can't box and he has no defense. He's basically a great, big, tall, tough galoot who's big and strong and can beat the shiit out of most unskilled brawlers based solely on his size and strength. Anyone with real skills such as Whyte is going to run him out of the ring. The only reason to watch this is the outside chance Helenius might land an inept swing and flatten Whyte.

Why isn't Whyte being matched with Duhaupas, Ruiz, Schwarz, Fury, Haye, Povetkin, Jennings, Rivas, Miller, or Takam??? Somebody who can box minimally?

I predicted we'd get this fight more than two weeks ago. Just the way Hearn was talking, it made me think about those "You have definitely won a prize" notifications - "It will definitely be one of ... 'A cabin-cruiser worth $150,000', 'A Bentley Mulsanne Turbo', 'A pair of silver-plated cuff-links engraved with the name of our sponsors', or 'A Harley-Davidson ...' etc. You don't need to be a psychic to know which one it's going to be.

I guess this is considerably better than Dillian sitting this one out, but I'd like to know how much Eddie offered Browne, Breazeale, Helenius and Whyte. Did he deliberately low-ball Browne and Breazeale to pave the way for the less risky option, or is it that the risk/ reward looks better to Helenius whose prospects (such as they are) are less likely to be affected by a new loss on his record. I like Eddie but you can't ever take what any promoter says at face value.

Dillian stops Helenius in my opinion.

Whyte vs Helenius is still perfectly solid compared to match-ups like Whyte vs Malcolm Tann, Helenius vs Evgeny Orlov, Duhaupas vs Evgeny Orlov, etc. Plus, we only have one data point suggesting that Whyte is better than Helenius's caliber (Whyte vs Chisora), and we only have one data point suggesting that Helenius is worse than Whyte's caliber (Duhaupas vs Helenius). In other words, this is a perfectly decent match-up compared to most of the crap we get, it provides vital information to confirm what we already suspect based on thin evidence, and if Whyte wins it convincingly, I think we can expect him to target a better opponent afterward. Whyte's matchmakers probably need more evidence than the one Chisora fight to convince them that he can safely take on top 15 competition.

I doubt Whyte/Helenius will be televised here. If it is I'll watch it. I'm watching the UFC on Nov 4th so when I get to Wilder/Stiverne on my DVR it probably has 2 rounds before I come on here and check the result. That's what Lara got last night.

Helenius-Chisora was 6 years ago!!!
Since then Helenius suffered injury which kept him 2 years out of the ring, faced only bums and was KOed cold by the only boxer he met...
Now he took a fight at 20 days notice. Looks like collecting last money for retirement :salut:
