Even as a replacement fight in Carlos Takam , Joshua is gonna fight a better name than Wilder has fought in his all career. :OhYes:

I was thinking about that. If we forget about this loaded proposition and you simply asked me who I'd pick in a fight next month between either ...
Takam v Molina. Takam v Szpilka, Takam v Duhaupas, Takam v Arreola, Takam v Washington or Takam v Stiverne I'd take him to beat Molina, Szplika, Arreola, and Stiverne.

I think Washington would give him trouble because I don't think Takam puts him under the kind of pressure that makes him fold, or hits him hard enough ... interesting match. Also Takam v Duhaupas is a fight I've been hoping to see for some time because they have been the two top heavies in France for a while and a match makes good sense before Yoka breaks through. IIRC the French champion in Cyrille Leonet and he is - not to put too fine a point on it - merde.

I'm just trying to point out how bad is Wilder's resume. If Wilder would fight Takam instead of Stiverne I'd say that Takam is the best name from his resume.

Wilder should fight guys like Pulev / Parker / Whyte and Lucas Browne to prove himself. Of course if these fights would happen there is a good chance that these guys to get KTFO by vada.

I think Takam is a bad match up for Washington. He’d swallow in that fight and eventually gas out

It's ridiculous they haven't fought in Paris.. About as dumb as Wilder never fighting Jennings.. Are they the 2 top American Heavyweights?? Then Let's fight!!!

It's a little like Tyson and Holyfield never fighting until they were both past 30.. Holyfield was 34 actually.. How dumb is that?

Even Ali and Frazier fought when they were 29 and 27 -- even though it took forever to make the fight... It shouldn't take years and years for fights to happen

I don't see evidence that Takem is actually washed up. He has always been at a 'B' level. He can be competitive, and likely win against most of the other top #5 to #20 guys. Yes he got a bit gassed against Parker over 12 rounds, but he finished quite well. AJ got gassed against Wlad but finished well :maybe:
I also think Takem would beat Washington and Stiverne, probably on a decision.
As a late replacement for Pulev, he ain't half bad. Smart Eddie saves the day.

Takam isn't washed up. Far from it.. I had him beating Parker and he attacked real well.. But he is 36 so he'll be desperate to make something happen here..

I guess I would rank Jerrell Miller ahead of Bryant Jennings cuz Jennings isn't fighting or beating anyone important.. Wilder-Miller would be a good one.

I was just trying to avoid picking on Wilder and trying to look as objectively as possible at the question. So I had Takam beating 4 out of 6 and the other two being hard to pick. I don't see anyone on Wilder's resume that I would confidently predict to beat Takam.

I'm not sure I u'stand what you mean by "swallow". I think "El Pollo Negro's" reach and mobility give Takam problems. I was really disappointed with Takam against Parker, he seemed lazy and content to just do (not quite) enough. He would really need to take it to Washington and put him under the kind of pressure that Mansour did down the stretch, otherwise GW is just going to coast. I don't know that Takam can muster that kind of effort anymore. We'll know soon enough what kind of effort he's capable of mustering, eh? :D

I dare to say that Takam is a more dangerous fight than Pulev.

He basically mentally unravels if you can apply pressure on him

You're right.

Wilder is about as bad as seth mitchell. But he's better protected because haymon is more desperate now with no floyd to use as leverage.

He's nowhere near as bad as Seth Mitchell.

Cheers Oz. I thought that's what you were getting at.

I agree Washington lacks mental fortitude (how could anyone disagree?) but his falling apart requires the opponent to exert a degree of pressure that I'm not convinced we'd see from Takam. Maybe I do the guy an injustice because that's an opinion formed after watching him fight Parker where I felt he could have won had he fought with more intensity, always assuming of course that he would have been physically capable of maintaining a higher intensity.
