Watching Hassan N'Dam get stopped in Japan today pleased me.

My apologies, but I am still holding a grudge towards pro fighters that tried to win Olympic Gold vs amateurs. Anyone with or against me on this?

do you think amateurs are little babies who need protecting or something? theyre men and have more recent experience under that set of rules.

It's pretty much a different sport these days.

There are no good reasons why pro boxers can't compete in the Olympics.

I think pro boxers are being overrated.

I've always disagreed, Olympic medals should be for the best, not for the best with brown hair, for the best who's grandma is still alive, the best from everyone who was born on the north side of the earth, or for the best one that never made money doing it.

It's about the best person in that sport and otherwise you should join something like the paralympics.

Every other sport in the Olympics uses Pros. I have no issue if Boxing does it too.

None of the pros did well in Rio. Most lost their first fight. The pros can't fight at a low weight and super hydrate like they would normally do so they had to fight at a higher weight than they did in the pros. AIBA is going through a takeover of the President so when a new one takes over, it could all change. Time will tell but seasoned amateurs like when Lomo or Rigo were around, they would have no problems with the pros. Just because a guy is a pro does not mean they have more experienced than a seasoned amateur who has boxed in multiple world tournaments and has over 200 amateur fights.

agree. its disrespectful and condescending to the amateurs to think they need protection.

The main issue I had with Pros turning to the Olympics is that it in theory it takes away opportunities from youngsters getting a medal that catapults a career into the Pros, a stepping stone. As it turned out, it didn't work that way, but it's quite ridiculous to me that someone like Wlad would take interest and wanted to compete. He had his time, got his gold and reigned as a Pro - now just imagine if Holyfield or Lewis did the same and on and on and on. History would possibly be quite different. It stinks.

...not sure there'll be too many volontiers willing to subject themselves to olympic drug testing rules..
