Thought I would post a thread about him because of what I read about him in a book about Archie Moore.
Archie Moore had told reporters after his fight with him that
"He has a harder left jab than Sonny Liston
"Nobody has ever hit me with a jab like this guy"
"he knocked my bridgework out in the ninth round.
All that he needS is experience.'
I could take him to my Salt Mine in San Diego and make a champion out of him in 2 years".

I think it's sad.. When a guy gets hurt so badly he has to be carried out on a stretcher you don't have him fighting Cassius Clay 3 months and 20 days later.
Then after Clay knocks Lavorante out very easily...they make him fight again 2 months later... You're asking for big trouble when you do that.

anyone know how many of Alejandro Lavorante's fight were televised in the USA ?
I only found one old TV listing
Alejandro Lavorante vrs Billy Hunter
Saturday November.4.1961
on THE FIGHT OF THE WEEK
on ABC-TV.
but the fight never happened for some reason.
(Billy Hunter vrs Von Clay was subsitutued for that day November 4.1961 at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angles instead)

Alejandro Lavorante fought 3 times at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angles in 1961.
Don't know if any of these fights were televised live from there however.
or even if there were any live boxing broadcasts on a Thursday or Friday on TV back then.
Lavorante vrs Zora Folley- Thursday May.11.1961
Lavorante vrs Von Clay -Friday December.29.1961
Lavorante vrs John Riggens -Thursday September.21.1961
