254lb and cardio?

Evening lads,
Just caught up with the weigh in, is Sky Sports trolling or is the lad from Watford really 254lb ??
Just from the glance I can see perhaps with the weight he isn't motivated for this Takam fight think he might have come a few pounders lighter for Pulev.
What do you lads make do you think it will severely impact his cardio?

i think having that much bulky muscle that needs support must be draining. he tired with his first burst against wlad but like the whyte fight he showed impressive second win. id think going up even higher in weight would hurt. i think he should aim a bit lower. hell still have natural ko power but might be bit quicker and not tire so quick.

pal I think anything over 240lb really put strains on your gas tank but as an outsider I can only think Anthony will try finish the bout in under 18 minutes

That's too heavy and he'll pay the price one day in a hard, long fight where he can't knock the other guy out.

Maybe mate but he'll be well matched even as champ-champ-champ-champ of all the belts... doubt they will let AJ fight Usyk when he moves up

As long as he’s choosing both cardio and muscle PEDs in a decent ratio he’ll be fine.

Disagree - I reckon Usyk moving up in about 12-18 months time will be AJ's biggest PPV draw/challenge - he'll probably have dealt with Takam, Pulev, Wilder and Parker by then. Will likely be undisputed CW champ vs Undisputed HW champ and (by then) at last a fight Aj isn't best price 1/20.
Will be a great fight and AJ will surely come in at least 1/2 st. lighter.

usyk is a really good boxer but dont think hell have the power to be serious threat to aj. also its not like hes totally unhittable. and hes much smaller. outboxing joyce was one thing, doing it over 12 to josh is another.

Oh for sure, it's nothing. He would probably drop 5 pounds in his morning constipootional.
Two weeks ago when Takem was announced I thought back to Tyson, when he was unbeatable. Next opponent was Buster, old, slow, basic etc. It gave me a shiver..

235,5 pounds at 187cm seems very compareble to 254 pounds at 198 cm.
If I look around me many people above 200cm are significantly more heavy compared to 180cm guys.

If this was a Povetkin or something, then maybe - but really cannot see it with Takam. I think it is largely forgotton that Buster Douglas was a guy who gave Tony Tucker fits for the IBF title, and beat guys like McCall and Greg Page.... Takam's best win is an ancient Tony Thompson and he lost handily to Parker. I would say Douglas was a genuine independent top ten fighter when he faced Tyson, Takam is not.

i had takam-parker a draw. although true after fury and ruiz fights that doesnt seem so great
dont think takam is much of a threat even if extra weight hurts aj, but think he can put up game effort, last some rounds, have aj moving back a bit. hes the type to lose gamely whereas i think pulev, although maybe better than takam, wouldve just been straight up splattered as soon as aj opened up. hes tailor made for a guy like joshua. remember that wlad was very close to stopping pulev in 1 and floored him hard with pretty much first shot he landed.

I thought Parker was a handy winner.... I disagree, Parker's own power is way overated so personally not convinced Takam is this iron chinned fighter he is potrayed to be. Yes, Pulev was splattered (although gamely splattered) vs Klitchsko, but other than that he has also shown good durability. For me, Takam hasn't fought the type of fighter to predict he will go rounds. I think Pulev would have gone rounds with all Takam has faced.

takam took really good shots from fully juiced povetkin before finally being stopped in the 10th. the same type of shots that iced perez in a minute and knocked duhaupas cold in 6.

My Buster shiver was totally irirrational.
Also I've watched Takem Parker a couple of times and it was close. As for Takem's chin, I would say above average, no more. His engine is pretty good though. At the weigh in he looked really fit. How that goes I don't know. Going back to Buster, that fight always reminds me that in HW boxing especially, anything can happen. It probably won't this time, but it does serve as a reminder that a sure bet is never a sure bet.

I can’t see Usyk being an effective heavyweight at all. Doubt he has enough core strength and also he throws a considerable number of arm punches. Very good and difficult cruiserweight though.

the division sucks pretty bad so im sure he could do well and maybe pick up a title if its with someone like joe 'majority decision' parker, but cant see him at all threatening joshua. think wilder would stop him too.

He's definitely smashing the weights far too much.....no matter what they say.
He's got to be lifting heavy to be putting on muscle mass like that, because his body fat still looks low.
He needs to be doing lighter weights high reps to increase endurance, he needs to be concentrating on his boxing drills...pads, bags, floor to ceiling ball, etc and he needs to be doing brutally hard random interval training in various guises to replicate the demands of a fight.
Lifting heavy as he must be....is not ideal for a boxer and he doesn't need all those muscles for show, because he's a naturally big heavyweight anyway and a born puncher. All that muscle is not adding to his attributes, but it is a liability that will have a negative effect on his stamina. I just hope it doesn't take him gassing out and getting beat before he realises. He should be coming in around the 17st mark. He's carrying around 10lbs of excess muscle mass he doesn't need.
It won't matter in this fight...I think he'll get rid of Takam within 4 but there are harder challenges ahead.
