In the Jones case, not allegedly he DEFINITELY failed a test....

Check out Vargas' physique when he lost to DLH. (and failed a test)

Also see : Andrej Golota and Jameel McCline

if that is true............then
In which case the answer to the question is Roy Jones a great, NO he is a cheat.

tarnished totally and utterly in my opinion.

I personally think the allegations that Holyfield has in the past may have substance.

perhaps, having said that he didnt put on a huge anount of weight..... it tooks him a long time to get his weight up to 220

allegations are one thing actually failing a test and it being swept under the carpet, quite another.

Jesus H Christ that is grim.

It cant be any coincidence that Mosley was linked to Balco and since all that blew up he has been a shadow of himself. Granted the Forrest fight would taken a lot out of him but not that much surely?

It was still an impressive gain considering his existing physique at cruiserweight. Anyone who's done serious weight-training knows how difficult it is in reality to bulk up considerably, particularly when you're already fairly hefty.

I think it probably is coincidence about Mosley. The guy has gained too much weight, too much muscle, has slowed due to age, has suffered a couple of confidence draining defeats, has had out of the ring problems, and has changed his style to one that doesn't fit him. Those factors, i would have thought, have been enough to finish him off.

How he gained all that weight/muscle is a very interesting question.

I agree, but i think that even if he is a drugs cheat it's only one of the reasons why he's not the fighter he was.

So did I. Just who did the guy think he was.

He's nothing, just a punk.

I suspect, as with all sports these days, the pressure to perform and the rewards for performing well mean that a huge percentage of sportspeople are taking something to improve their game

I suspect Boxing is not one of the cleanest sports. Perhaps they are just better at covering their tracks

As someone said about those caught at the Olympics. They are not just cheats, they are stupid. They couldn't even time their juicing correctly to get the crap out of the system before they came to the games

That's how I feel about Jones. Cheat and a stupid cheat at that. The biggest shame is that he had enough bottle and talent not to need to do it

Mosley was apparently strong as a horse and seriously into his lifting anyway. All he has to do is change his diet slightly and he'd be putting on more mass. I've heard sources who I respect saying he was bench pressing 360 lbs, which is over 160kg, quite fruity for a light middle

Considering Kali Meehan has just been telling how chuffed he is to up his bench press from 100kg to 150kg ahead of the Brewster fight. And Mosley was pushing up more than that.

Juicing isn't all about putting on weight, so a ripped guy with muscles isn't necessarily a cheat. Now, if he was a stick in one fight and a body builder three months later, then that's obviously suspect.

But steroids can work just fine at maintaining your physique. Yes, their main benefit is in allowing your body to heal faster from the small muscle tears from lifting weights, which leads to muscle volume growth, but they also help you heal from actual injury - a big reason why many ahtletes go that route in the first place. An injury that derails much needed action and exposure or big money is a huge problem. So the intent might not be to cheat in terms of being a huge motherfucker. Many guys in track and boxing injur a shoulder or hamstring or some such thing and need a fast and effective way to both recover and move forward. That's when a clean good sport can succumb to the lure.

Sucks, but true. Of course there are definitely your basic cheaters out there too.

360, cant be right.

Terry Norris used to press 200lb in 1990, things cant have progressed that much.

Yes, that could be true. I've got a tape of a documentary on juiced-up Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson, where he's benching upwards of 400 lbs, and he was 160 (circa 1986). Juiced or not, some athletes are freakishly strong. But the 'roids'll take you that last distance further.

easy boys, the Mosley figure that I heard him quote was 300lbs (136kg)
still very impressive mind you!!

Tzsyu can BP 120kg max aswell

Lennox 180kg

Vitali actually failed a drugs test before he went pro, although the drugs were administered to heal a calf injury. Because of his drugs test failure it was Wlad who went to Atlanta!

Those Klitschkos are both pretty suspect.

I don't want to turn this into a pissing contest, but those stats aren't that unrealistic. I know it was appreciably more than 300lbs he was lifting because of how it compared to what I was lifting when I heard.

Mosley's been into his weights in a big way for a long time. The world record for a guy his size is 225kg. I know we're talking different sports, but 360lbs versus a top of 470lbs, that's not inconceivable by a stretch.
