Former WBO cruiserweight king Marco Huck is not about to hang up the gloves and tells BILD that he will continue his career next year in the heavyweight division.

Huck fought then WBA champ Alexander Povetkin back in 2012 and came close to an upset but it must be said that Povetkin was pretty much out of shape for that fight.

Huck then dropped down to cruiserweight and won several fights, but also suffered several defeats at the top level. He was last seen getting outclassed and stopped by WBO champion Oleksander Usyk, last month as part of the ongoing World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament.

There aren't many HW's now that weigh below 220 lbs..

Anyone over that, most HW's are coming in at 240-260 lbs now..

Huck’s roughhousing style doesn’t seem well-suited for wearing down bigger, stronger men. Sure, heavyweight cardio is by and large worse than cruiserweight cardio, but there’s only so much you can do to guys who outweigh you by 30+ pounds.

Maybe a rematch with Povetkin? He could fight Bellew at HW, they'd weigh around the same.. But I think Bellew is looking for big paydays only now..

Potential fights; Wilder, Malik Scott ( if he can get below 235 lb), Takam, Tomasz Adamek (fighting Kassi next month), Amir Mansour, Otto Wallin..

Not much variety.. Apart from those names, all other HW's I think are too big for him..

worst idea ive ever heard ! Someone with Hucks size and boxing style who is nearing the end of their career shouldn't be going anywhere near the heavies, I get that hes trying to cash out but it really isn't worth the risk to his health IMO

Oh, cool. Then he could fight some heavyweights, like Tony Bellew, David Haye, Tomasz Adamek, Eddie Chambers, and Mairis Briedis.

Hucks a fairly basic fighter, and would be physically out matched by many at heavy. Don’t see him being successful

He is bit too tough and durable for hes own good. I don't want to see him take too much punishment like he did against Usyk.

Hes been trough too many wars and over the hill already.

No need to beat any taxi drivers... Just retire straight away.

You wouldn't think he's 32.. Some boxers start later.. I mean Usyk is 29/30 and only had 12 pro fights.. Huck is few years older but been a pr for a long time.. Sometimes it's longevity.. He has the experience, maybe a change of approach on how he fights.. He could definatley still fight a few more years..

At 32 though, I think we've seen the best of him..

..agree with you there..just think not everyone is born to be the champ and there's nothing wrong to NOT being the best ...he's still a name in Germany..might as well continue boxing keeping a lower profile and still paying his mortgage...

Huck is a fool. He's nowhere near big or hard hitting enough for the division.

At this stage in their respective careers? Yes, I'd consider him a big favorite going into the rematch.

I've always liked Huck. I hope for his health he retires

huck-pov was an excellent fight. imo one of the best hw fights in years.

huck-pov was an excellent fight btw. imo one of the best hw fights in years. i think pov actually may have started the stuff after that rather than wlad.he was utterly exhausted although he kept fighting hard. probably his fight i most respect even though he looked like a flabby bowlcut slob and was fortunate to win.

and huck has always been a warrior.
