Same scenario as the Jones vs Byrd thread that I see was posted.
Any knowledge as to if this was ever in the wind? And who might prevail had it happened?

Same as my Roy/Byrd breakdown...I mean stylistically it's a different fight, but I think what these guys bring to the table would be cancelling each other out quite often.
This one would've been pretty boring I think. I could see Byrd outworking Toney by a bit, and edging a close decision. Toney would probably land the cleaner, more authoritative punches in the contest, but I figure Byrd would land more, and would the slight power advantage I think Toney MIGHT enjoy (I say Might because it's no certainty that Toney was in fact the harder puncher of the two, but I think he was slightly) would be easily nullified on the cards by Byrd's greater workrate.

Toney would easily out-box and out punch Byrd like he did Holyfield. He got inside against Evander like he did with Dominic Guinn. Ibeabuchi ran off combination on Byrd by the 4th round.. He trapped him on the ropes an belabored him to the body and head like he was nothing.. Toney wouldn't be as destructive -- but he would do the same thing he did to Evander and Jirov -- get into those ribs and and hammer the crap out of Byrd.. Chris wouldn't get away.

In terms of speed, Byrd was different league then ancient Holyfield or Guinn (he also easily outboxed somewhat less ancient version of Holyfield than Toney did).
I see Byrd outworking Toney pretty the same way gilgamesh suggested.

I don't... I only see Byrd getting the crap knocked out of him because he had no power to hold Toney off.. At least Dominic Guinn scored a brutal KO over gigantic but slow Michael Grant -- a guy who stopped Golota and Byrd did not want to fight Grant.. With an unreal reach and a right hand like that I can understand Byrd's reluctance to fight him even though Grant couldn't box well..
Byrd thought Ike Ibeabuchi was too green for him, and I think he had to take the Wladimir fights.. When it's that much money you're almost obliged to take the fight for your family -- even if you don't like your chances a whole Hell of a lot... Toney fought tall southpaws before and wasted them -- Michael Nunn being a great example.. Toney beat Jirov by wide margins on all cards -- and landed 150 more shots.. Lederman influenced the telecast with his stupidity.. Harold kept suggesting Jirov was winning when he wasn't landing anything.
