Parkers Cut

Parkers promoter has very generously offered to give Joshua 60% of the purse. He says 50/50 is fair but he's a nice bloke
What do you think is a fair split?

Here Here. 35% is fair, he holds a world title but has no following or track record of making the numbers stack up. 35% is a fair amount

I guess his managers job is to get Parker the most money he can, so he’s not coming in straight away at 35% to be knocked down further
As Eddie Hearn said, because of Joshua’s appeal and numbers, they have to over pay his opponents. The % that Parker brings to the pot and the % he will probably get won’t be the same.
He should snap off Hearns hand if 35% gets offered
He should be getting 25-30 really

no chance Parker takes the fight for 25%, he has a title that AJ wants. The WBO Title is the leverage.
His manager has opened at 40%. Hearn should return with 30%. They meet in the middle at 35%.
Anything less than 35% and Parker has sold himself for less than he (and his title) is worth...

I agree that he has leverage that will get him a few more %
The amount of money that 35% would be is overpaying Parker though

Yes, but on the other hand Joshua has 3 titles that Parker wants!
Anyway, I guess 30% would be more than fair.
Joshua is the draw here not Parker.

Parker won’t get that same money against anyone else who wants his belt
If it’s fair in your head that’s fine. I’m just talking real numbers

realistically your prob gonna have to pay parkers and wilders to make the fights happen id think. id say 35 is deffo on the high end for jp though. i think even less is fair.

Supply and demand doesn't work like that. The demand to see Joshua is massive, and the demand for the opponent to be Parker is nil. He isn't a name and yes, whilst Joshua no doubt wants the belt there is no point overpaying for the sake of the WBO title. Tyson never had it, Holyfield never had it, Lewis didn't have it.

just on drawing power its prob like 95-5 or 90-10 at closest. no way it happens for that though id think.

I agree, Parker doesn't get AJ money anywhere else. But when he loses his title to J, as I think he does, he isn't worth a carrot.
The WBO Title is the only think that makes him worth anything and he has to milk that...

He can try to milk it, but he nearly lost it to Hughie Fury of all people. He barely beat Ruiz to get it in the first place. How exactly does he milk it, and who against? Joshua splats him - we all know that, but it's not like he can cobble together a few million fighting Pulev - Takam - Breazeale in the meantime because he'll probably lose.

It's a big (some would say insurmountable) risk for Parker to fight Joshua.
He loses his belt and unbeaten record, then what value does he have?
And how does he get a belt, any belt, back?
He can average 1.5-2 million US per fight for however long he wants just like Wilder. Or he can take a one off payday.
So that one off payday better be a good one.
Sure he can still fight on the fringes for lesser money once his belt is taken away, he is still young. But going from a belt to no belt would be tough.
AJ is young too, and the rainmaker of the division, I can see him keeping the belts for a while yet if he beats Wilder (and if that ever happens )

parker needs to fight guys like fujiomoto for 'safe'defenses. thats his level.
and does he really get 1.5 to 2m us a fight?

Don't underestimate Parker's home town fans Wes. Even after his loss to Holyfield, David Tua was still making a good earn down here. He set a PPV record that still stands today

Yes he does. Fury was 1.8 I'm not sure about Ruiez (think 2+mil) because he got a cut of the PPV. Cojanu he took a pay cut because it was a last minute replacement but it was still just under 1 mil + PPV.
He has been earning more than Wilder for his last 5 fights and even Cojanu may have got up there or close.

True but Joshua can earn 15 million quid no matter who he fights. What Parkers purse against Fury?
Both camps need to be flexible

40% would be generous of Joshua's team to give Parker. 30% or less is more like it.

going 5 plus rounds with anybody that Hearn cant market as his equal only harms AJs brand imo.
AJ cant afford to have 3 Carlos Takam fights in 2018 or his value goes down...
