I was wondering if anybody has seen or got any film of Danny mcalinden fights, I've only seen his fight with jack bodell and am curious to see more, many thanks

Danny fought several times on the Beeb in the 1970s but his fights preceded the videotape age. His style was beautifully uncomplicated: he went out there and threw punches until the other man folded. The popular Irishman could undoubtedly whack but his peak years were beset with managerial problems and injuries and he never fulfilled his potential. A surprise loss to unfancied American Morris Jackson in 1973 cost him a huge fight with Joe Bugner.

He has been living in London for many years.

I wouldn't call him an alchy ... but I believe he likes a drink.

Was mooted to fight Ali at one stage.

I met Danny at the King's Hall in Belfast in 2008. He enjoyed being recognised and looked in good shape. I believe he fought a recent battle with cancer and I hope the man is well.
