The last I heard about Earnie Shavers was (amongst many other things) that he was working as a greeter at a wine bar in Liverpool.
I've just read on another Boxing Forum that someone went for Earnie with a knife and Earnie had to punch him.
Can anyone confirm this?

Didn't know Earnie had been attacked but i did know he was doing the doors in Liverpool, serves the prick right who pulled the knife if Earnie had broken his jaw

Funny as I was leafing through one of those UK Hard Man books yesterday ( My life, my struggle etc ) with the usual picture of a scowling bald bloke on the cover - and I came to the photo section.
The caption says something like "I met a lot of famous people in my time, none more so than the great Marvin Hagler"
And there's a picture of him with his arm around Ernie Shavers.

Earnie actually lives about 30 seconds from me (Moreton, Wirral, Merseyside) and trains at my gym (west wirral abc).
Yes he is a doorman at Yates Wine Lodge near Concert Square, i dont think the rumours about him getting attacked with a knife are true because i saw him last week and he said nothing about it.

Nice to hear he's still training, a lot of heavyweights really let themselves go to pot when they retire...Lewis has balooned a fair bit already, last I heard he was around 290 lbs.

damn, Buster Douglas is the worst, saw him on legendary nights. He aint as bad as he was when he first left the ring, he had some serious heart problems back then.
btw, what happened to the John Mugabi thing? didn't someone say they'd try and get him at a show so we can meet him or something?
