Former heavyweight world titleholder David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) has withdrawn from his rematch against Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs), whom he was supposed to face Dec. 17 at the O2 Arena in London, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told ESPN on Monday.

Haye, according to the source, suffered an arm injury and is having surgery.

Official announcement of the postponement of the fight is expected later Monday.

Dunno why, but I was looking forward to this fight.

His problem is that he has no other way of earning proper money.

He claimed he would quit when he was 30 & go & become an actor, but obviously, Harvey Weinstein never gave him a call, so his 'Hollywood' career never came to fruition, so he had to come back to boxing.

Although he's had a better career than most fighters, his HW career has been a cynical & staged managed joke.

He's never beaten a single world class HW & yet, he will be able to tell his grandchildren that he was once the HW champion of the world.

He's now backed into a corner & having to waste his time fighting fat CW's to prove himself & by the time he gets to mix it with the likes of Joshua & Wilder, he'll be into his 39th year.

I believe he should retire whilst he still has his health, looks & faculties intact, but I get the feeling that the door is not yet closed on the Hayemaker.

Wise move by Haye. He is a perfectionist, and right now can't take any chances. He needs to be 100% and he needs a more certain fight than this. David won't get climb into the ring unless he knows he's going to win. A loss to Bellew now and its game over.

Wonder who he's got lined up? Briggs? Parker?

Expected, he knew he had no chance, sad to see he's wasting someone else his time on purpose.

He beat Valuev and Ruiz, both were world class level at the time, undoubtedly.

Travelled away from home and beat two world champions, one the unified champ, in their own backyard. He was a proper, old school fighter once upon a time. He was a brilliant cruiserweight and mixed it with the big boys when he was never a true heavyweight.

It’s a shame how it’s all ended. He should have wrapped it up years ago.

In 2002, David Haye was the favourite to win the gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, but had to withdraw due to suffering an arm injury.

In July 2005, the Hayemaker had a bout against Mark Hobson postponed due to a hamstring injury.

David Haye had to postpone his bout against Wladimir Klitschko in June 2009, due to a back injury.

When they eventually fought in 2011, David blamed his loss on an existing toe injury.

In May 2013, Haye withdrew from a comeback bout against Manuel Charr due to a hand injury.

In September of the same year, David’s fight against Tyson Fury was cancelled due to a cut right eye suffered during sparring.

During November of the same year, David’s second scheduled fight against Tyson Fury was cancelled, due to the Hayemaker suffering an injury to his shoulder, which led to doctors to recommend that he retires.

During February 2016, Haye’s former trainer (Shane McGuigan) admitted that Haye’s body is “breaking down” and that he faces a constant “fitness struggle”… “He just breaks down, his body has broken down.”

In March of 2017, the Haymaker ruptured his Achilles during his defeat to Tony Bellew.

During November the same year, David Haye suffers a bicep injury that resulted in the postponement (or possible cancellation) of his rematch against Tony Bellew.

He couldn't risk losing again from an injury. Sucks, was looking forward to a nice Sunday afternoon card. Get well and see what's next.

I agree, Haye was a brilliant CW & a good fighter, but I don't rate his HW opposition.

Ruiz was 90 years old when Haye fought him & Valuev was a giant lummox who just happened to have a 'world' title belt, which an average Joe can seemingly pick up these days without ever fighting anyone decent.

The only truly world class HW he fought beat him.

Let's talk about Bellew. He rejected Tyson Fury and Whyte as replacements. Can he even defeat a decent healthy heavyweight? I doubt.
