Miguel Cotto vs Sadam Ali

Cotto defends his WBO Super Welterweight title against Ali on b/nation this Saturday, Cotto's farewell fight by all accounts and TBH he strikes me as the type of fighter who'll keep his word, he looked excellent against Kamegai last time out, in all fairness Kamegai has never been even near his level but Cotto was switched on and showed great skills and stamina

Ive seen a lot of Ali coming through, he fought on ESPN a few times and remember him getting a good stoppage win over Abregu, haven't seen much of him lately though and was surprised he was stopped by Jessie Vargas, he's picked up a few wins since then and this is his 2nd title shot

Cant see him having enough to beat Cotto though. think Cotto will be too big, strong, experienced and having better tools all round for Ali to cope with, Ali might start off sharp but I see Cotto wearing him down and stopping him 2nd half of the fight,, I never seen Ali's loss to Vargas but if Vargas can KO him then I cant see him lasting with Cotto, especially if Cotto lands the type of shots he hit Kamegai with

Cotto has had an excellent career, I'm glad he is able to bow out on his own terms

Just hope Ali doesn't land the punch of his life and ruin everyone's evening.

I remeber that fight vs Abregu. I thought Ali was an exciting fight and one to watch

Hadn't heard of him since though and missed his loss to Vargas. But Vargas never won a second vs Pacquaio.

I don't think Ali will have much of a chance. If he found his level to be below Vargas, then he's out his depth Miguel.

In some ways a bit of a let down of an ending, but as people say glad to see him end on his own terms and not much worse than Mayweather vs Berto.

This fight is absolute crap

Used to like Cotto but his career in recent years has been a joke.

Fair play to Cotto. Seems an absolute gent, have met him a handful of times at sponsor events and he is very engaging.

Led to believe he's been savvy with his money - had a trusted accountant most of the way though.

Not really sure how any boxing fan can dislike Cotto.

Cotto was a hell of a fighter but there has been a huge bitch element to his career, certainly the tail end. Won vacant titles, tilted the tables heavily in his favour, made unreasonable demands on his opponents.

Came on to say something similar but you've put it better than I could've! Smashing fighter and great to watch but overrated! Would've loved him and Hatton at 140! Ricky always fancied the job against Cotto!

Heard he's a cock behind the scenes? I know you've been to a lot of shows overseas so maybe you have better knowledge than most? Personally I like him as a fighter but there was a few fights I'd have liked to have seen him take on....

Like many elite fighters, he's tipped the scales in his favour when he was the front end of the card.

Due to work/family commitments, I'm far less involved in the US scene than I was 4 or 5 years ago, but I've only heard of Cotto as one of the good guys.

He has certainly given many of his opponents their best pay days by far,

I get the table tilting, etc., but how is Cotto overrated? I don’t think many if any are rating him an ATG. He is just an excellent prize fighter whose potential we will never know, imo, because of the Cheato debacle.

I said at the time that I felt that he should retire. That was prior to the Tijuana sewer rat being busted for plaster wraps prior to the SSM fight.

Cotto proved me dead wrong. He went on to win and lose big fights, including one of the more competitive matches FMJ was ever involved in.

He is a good role model of a pro boxer, and the pride of Puerto Rico.
