A real loss. People often talk about 'boxing' people but Dennie was arguably the original.

I am gutted. I cant beleive it. He used to live local to me when i was growing up. The whole family were great, used to go to the house and talk about the game non stop.

Mancini was a hugely popular in Germany too and was always present in Ottke's corner

What a shock . There was a really good feature on him in a recent Boxing Monthly .

Will always remember Dennie's corner work in that thrilling Nigel Benn-Gerald McClellan war. He showed he was much more than a brilliant cutsman that night. After the first round nightmare, Benn staggered back to his corner and Dennie praised him! He turned one of the worst rounds Benn had endured in his life into something worthy of praise.
Benn said it really lifted him.
And we all remember Dennie's memorable "He half swallowed it in that round," after McClellan took a knee later on.

This is a shame. I used to love to talk to him in Lonsdale shop.....

this is very dad news indeed. I have just rang George Feeney but he's at work. He will be devastated by the news. He tells the story about the time when he had been beaten in a British Title eliminator by Ricky Beaumont down in Hull. George says that he thought he won the fight easily enough and in the dressing room after the contest Ricky was lying flat out and exhausted on the table - where as George said he hadn't really broken sweat. Anyway George asked Dennie (he was his manager) what thenext step was - Dennie replied "retire- don't waste my time - you've got the ability but you can't be bothered. Its your career and its up to you but I've got other careers to look after (he had other fighters on his books) and I've got them to think about!!"
This was Georges wake up call and he buckled down from there to train and apply himself properly and win a British Title.

I met Dennie Mancini in Glasgow at the end of the Scott Harrison Vs Wayne McCullough bout when Wayne was in the changing rooms after the fight. There was a bad feeling after the fight that there was something wrong with McCullough and I spoke with Dennie about it and about boxing in general.

I always admired him in the sport and John Breen who was very close with Dennie always spoke very highly of him to me.

It was a shock to hear that tonight about Dennie, thinking back I will treasure that I had a chance to have a great chat with him.

He will be sadly missed and his family and boxing have lost a great man.

There was a 10 bell toll and a minutes silence at the Wembley arena tonight.Dennie was a great guy ,old school ,there are not many left now,fossie went about a year ago now dennie.
