Obviously morales did. Why did vitali? Who did he beat? Winky is much more qualified.pound per pound wrote: ↑05 Dec 2017, 20:53I don't get all the hate, Vitali deserved it. So did Morales. Wright was a mild reach, but not a bad pick.
He was fighting on the undercard. I don't for a second think that vitali wasn't a capable fighter. He just has a very poor resume that isn't worthy of the Hof.Ricky_ wrote: ↑05 Dec 2017, 22:16 Even the Lewis fight wasn't ideal timing, iirc he was a short-notice replacement, before his prime and Lennox was past his prime by a good few years. Vitali showed his calibre in that fight and had the 2 of them met in their primes it would have been a proper heavyweight megafight imo. Would make Lennox a handy favourite though, but i bet their would be plenty of picks for vk.
He was in an era including Lewis, Holyfield and Tyson plus a load of other world champions who weren't as good in the decade around them (Ruiz, Haye, Maskaev, Rahman, Valuev, Ibragimov, Chagaev) plus contenders like Mercer, Tua, Golota. You could stick Moorer in there as well if you like. He fought none of them. His CV is pathetic.Ricky_ wrote: ↑05 Dec 2017, 22:01 Vitali Klitchko is a bad ass. How much criticism can you throw his way for being around in an era that was so poor? At least little bro caught some contenders like Haye, Fury and AJ before he retired, but lost 2/3.
I think i seen Vitali lose about 3 rounds of boxing in his entire career, 2 of them to the goat.

Correction - fought one of them. And lost.Taansend wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 07:56He fought Lewis.dirk2686 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 07:50He was in an era including Lewis, Holyfield and Tyson plus a load of other world champions who weren't as good in the decade around them (Ruiz, Haye, Maskaev, Rahman, Valuev, Ibragimov, Chagaev) plus contenders like Mercer, Tua, Golota. He did well that night. I was there. The uppercut Lewis landed (around the 4th) was felt around the arena. Mad punch.dirk2686 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 08:03Correction - fought one of them. And lost.Taansend wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 07:56He fought Lewis.dirk2686 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 07:50

Tough bloke indeed but his record is atrocious. When you think about who was active when he was, and who he didn't fight. You wonder how he can have had so many fights and end up with such a poor CV.Taansend wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 08:07He did well that night. I was there. Tough bloke Vitali. I can see why people are saying NO but there's worse than him in there. I don't take the IBHOF too serious just like a I don't P4P lists seriously.
They're just opinions & only mine counts![]()
I would say atrocious is a bit harsh. He fought fairly decent fighters most of the way through but you're right. He did miss out on some bigger names.dirk2686 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 08:10Tough bloke indeed but his record is atrocious. When you think about who was active when he was, and who he didn't fight. He missed pretty much all the big names in fairness. No Holyfield or Tyson. Lost against Lewis. They were the biggest names of his era.
If only it was Vitali and not Kevin McBride that left the shell of Mike Tyson slumped against the ropes.dirk2686 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 07:50He was in an era including Lewis, Holyfield and Tyson plus a load of other world champions who weren't as good in the decade around them (Ruiz, Haye, Maskaev, Rahman, Valuev, Ibragimov, Chagaev) plus contenders like Mercer, Tua, Golota. Lewis is obviously an all time great but he was old and fat and still had enough to withstand Vitali's shots and turn his face into a mess.DrDuke wrote: ↑06 Dec 2017, 10:21 Vitali is worthy for induction. Wlad had a better opposition, but Vit had also met descent contenders, whom the era could suggest. As the result numbers tell a lot for him. But it's not about only numbers, Vit was a really special boxer. He was far from being technically perfect, but he had a great ability to use his size. Even Lewis-fight, which is a loss, is an another argument for giving Vitali a legend status.
Yes,but all those were the very first signs of decline, Lewis had been in an excellent shape just in the two previous fights. He was a huge favourite and the reigning champion. So both Lewis and Klitschko kinda accomplished a feat in their bout.
