Why does Caleb Traux have to grant an immediate rematch? This was not stipulated in their fight contract.
So the only way that DeGale receives an immediate rematch, is because Haymon/Queensbery is willing to pay for it or the IBF mandates it.
Otherwise, the American is not obliged to grant Chunky a rematch if he does not want to. So there's clearly no deadline at this point in time.

He doesn't HAVE TO.. DeGale said he wasn't sure if there was a rematch clause in the contracts. But said he'll speak to Al Haymon. Truax is 34, probably won't the title for long. He should make them pay him a good amount for a rematch.
Use same tactics. If he can beat DeGale twice.. then good for him.

Whilst I believe that DeGale is already past-his-prime, he still has enough left in the tank to gain revenge over an opponent he previously underestimated.
It's clear to me that Traux isn't going to enjoy a long title reign, so he should force DeGale's team to delve deeply into their pockets in order to secure the immediate rematch.

Yeh I agree. DeGale probably does win a rematch. But Truax will make sure he gets paid handsomely..

DeGale had a one off promotion package with Aram. Does anyone know the status of that now?
After that performance, I would expect any further involvement by Top Rank may hang in the balance which would muddy the rematch waters if DeGale is without backers willing to bank on him

IBF is 75/25 unless you agree purse so he should be fine.
Still thinks it smacks of arrogance and also unprofessional not to include a rematch clause for a World Title fight - even to cover all flukes/injuries etc.

Are you getting Arum mixed up with Frânk Wärren?

That's the split if there's a purse bud scheduled; between Champion and Mandatory challenger.
IBF might order Truax to fight their Interim champion. Unless Dirrell and Uzcategi (sp) have to rematch first.

Everybody is looking for him - Fielding/John Ryder etc already.
Hearn slaughtered FW and De Gale’s team for not having rematch clause today.

Truax can do a Charles Martin and sell his title to the highest bidder! Good luck to the guy! To be fair to him I'm sure he'll give a decent account of himself against whoever he decides who to defend against.

James DeGale hasn't ruled-out retirement.

jccj could probably still outbid the others who aren't in the wbss tourney.

Or maybe Haymon will arrange Truax vs Jacobs. I doubt that Danny will be able to make 160 for much longer.

JCC Jr. would be pretty good and then have Jr unify with Ramirez. Would be a huge event. Jr. would get whooped.

The big money fights for Jacobs are against his fellow HBO stablemates at 160lbs (i.e. Canelo, Golovkin, Lemieux, Andrade etc.).
I doubt that HBO would have signed him without receiving commitment from Jacobs about being able to compete at 160lbs when called upon.
That said, Jacobs may decide to compete in one or two interim bouts 168lbs, to improve his resume and marketability, whilst waiting for the big fights at 160lbs.

Looks like DeGale might be out for an extended period once again, as he looked like he sustained mouth damage again.
If this is the case, Truax doesn't want to be waiting around for DeGale.

Yes, apparently we will have to wait until after the new year until he decides to carry on or retire. The option of a rematch hinges on that. And also if someone is going to back him for future fights.
It's a stacked division, I feel he will struggle for backing.

I thought that sanctioning bodies didn't allow immediate rematch clauses for title fights. Does this not apply to IBF or has this changed. Obviously a contract can include an immediate rematch but the belt might be taken away if a mandatory is due instead.

As well he should.
It was incredibly arrogant, incredibly short sighted and incredibly stupid.

They clearly allowed it for GGG vs Canelo.

Rematch clauses seem to be standard for any big fight. Especially when it involves a star fighter.

The lack of a rematch clause in the contract was a massive cock up by Degale's team.
However, it is a boon for Truax, as now he can look at the offers from PBC, matchroom, Top rank and Sauerlands and go with the one that suites him best.
A rather luxurious position that 2nd tier fighters like Truax very rarely find themselves in.
