No surprises about this result but Braidwood is one of a number of promising heavyweights who are either Canadian or plying their trade in Canada. Miljas has of course just relieved Carman of the title in an explosive fight. There are some very exciting match-ups to be made and this most assuredly wasn't one of them.

It seems like a decent scene but it's difficult to tell if any of them are any good. Braidwood beat Bahoeli who lost to Lucas Browne as well, it would be good to see him against Miljas next...

Oscar Rivas is undoubted quality but has problems with his eyes and getting clearance to box which I believe is why he has chosen Canada as his base. Then there is former amateur international Simon Kean who is probably (other than Rivas) the biggest threat to "Monster Mel" and his recently acquired title.

The heavyweight scene in Canada is the healthiest I can remember in nearly 50 years as a fan (albeit they haven't got a contender like Chuvalo) and the same can be said for both Australia and New Zealand. Sadly South Africa seems at an all-time low.

Thanks for the insight. It would be good to see one or more of this crop stepping up and maybe fighting for the Commonwealth, it must be an age since a Canadian held it. Was Ruddock ever champ, or did Berbick fight as a Canadian or Jamaican? I know he held it...

Get the likes of Bergman, Martz, Green and Abell up there to mix it up. If they win against those lads then Dawejko.

Wishful thinking of course and although they will cost more than these Mexican imports, I don't think they would break the bank.

I had to look it up but Ruddock fought only once for the Commonwealth title losing to Lennox Lewis in 1992.

Trevor Berbick held the title from July 81 to 85 but the flag alongside his name is Jamaican.
