just my opinion. brits listed first.
overrated:
lee selby (no way is he the master boxer some say)
danny dubous (too many saying hes bang on sure thing for top levels or would pummell joyce now)
ggg (face defense is most overhyped ive ever seen. froch shouldve fought him. wouldve been a mullering.)
beterbev
bivol
loma (only because of all the goat stuff. hes a great talent and i wouldnt say p4p is 1 unreasonable)
under:
bellew (proves ppl wrong again and again)
cej (excellent talent who ppl want to fail)
groves (strange how many ppl have acted for years as if hes totally shopworn and has 0 stamina. arguably world #1 until cej beats him)
warrngton (ppl act as if hes some scrub who only gets chances because hes popular)
deontay (most overly hated boxer)
gervonta davis

anyone beleve josh taylors overrated? just curous because hes someone who now gets loads of hype but i really dont see much ppl dsputng that he deserves it and theres usually almost always a group who cant stand when ppl rate someone so they become negative about them.
devils advocate: vasquez was a lightweght whod seen better days and yet gave him issues early on. arguably even after 6. davies untested and had very lttle amateur background compared to the olympan.
but ya im pretty high on him too. hed already beat that russan who just won the ibf.

Josh is good. I think it helps him that the weight isn't that strong now.
I'll be gobsmacked if he doesn't get one of those belts though. If there was just one belt like there should be would he get it ? I don't know.

Move Gervonta Davis to Overrated and ignore GGG and I like this.
I'll come up with some later after a good think.

Josh Taylor is still a prospect in my view. Exciting to watch for sure, but not over rated, just well liked.
Badou Jack is under rated and I keep forgetting just how good he is. Wish he would fight more often.
Jorge Linares was under rated, now I think he has proven his worth.
Wilder I'm not sure about. If only he had a decent opponent, I could tell if he was under or over rated. So I would say undecided (which should have been the third option for this thread)
Dominic Breazeale is under rated, he is as good as anyone in the top ten HW apart from AJ and Wilder.

jack i think gets rated a lot higher these days then he used to.ppl say so much hes underrated that im not sure if he still is?
jorge i deffo underrated. i held his stoppage losses and vulnerable showing against him to much. expected him to crumble aat any time but he keeps winning.

Josh Taylor is the best UK boxer at the moment! The man is amazing.
Badou Jack is absolute class and I hope he isn't on the humble pie although his showing against Degale and Groves was a little suspect how he walked through punches.

I wouldn't call him overrated but I don't expect Lomachenkos peak to last much longer.

you dont think so? he doesnt really take much punishment though he did have that long, long amateur career.also relies a lot on athletic gifts which often first to go.

I don't think Loma will be able to get any more meaningful fights because no one wants to fight him. And that is the crying shame about the status of boxing right now.

Who has Bellew proven wrong? Never beaten a live world class fighter
Wilder isn't underrated. You need to beat someone to become at least rated

Yeah he had something silly like 400 fights as an amateur and he's 30 next February, I think maybe another 2 years and he'll start to slide.

Taylor is probably the only highly thought of fighter in the UK who isn't overrated.
I like him a lot, beating 2 British level fighters so convincingly at such an early stage in his career is fantastic.
But to beat a former champion like Vasquez in emphatic fashion straight after proves he has is no hype job.
People can play down the Vasquez win all they want but the way I see it, if Froch deserved credit for beating Jermaine Taylor and Fury deserved credit for Cunningham, then Josh deserves immense credit for Vasquez. Especially considering the how little trouble he had in comparison.

Warrington is the most overrated fighter in the UK. The moment he fights Frampton, Selby or even Quigg for that matter he will be defeated. Quigg will be the closer of the above but Selby & Frampton will make light work of him.
Warrington has fought mediocre to poor opposition for too long. The moment he finally steps up, he will be defeated.

Overrated: Tyson Fury.
Horrible world title win where he barely threw a punch now further marred by the fact that he's an admitted PED user and used them before the fight itself. Outside that his best win is against Dereck Chisora. Chinny, and lacks power. In fact, for a man his size, his punch power is weak.
Yet people pretend he's some sort of heavyweight Mayweather.

He hasn't fought at World scene yet. Warrington only wants easy fights in front of the Leeds crowd.
The reason according to Eddie why they parted ways was because of Warrington wasn't interested in stepping up. Which looks to be the case but it will be confirmed when Warrington is in a purse bid situation.

Probably being undefeated and undisputed led people to rate him. Turn it in, Dirk, son, it's been a hard day for you

Yeah, division strength's the key. An 8/10 boxer from most divisions' heydays would be a 10/10 in most other eras. Golovkin doesn't have to be as good as Hagler to be as dominant now as Hagler was then.
So I think it all depends on whether you're rating people historically or currently. Josh Taylor's very good in comparison to his peers, so I wouldn't call him overrated.

He's now a drug cheat? In what way has it been a hard day?
You think accepting a two year ban and admitting to a drug fail is a good result for Tyson? A good result would be being found to have done nothing wrong.
