I don't know, but aren't Nielsen involved in the US TV audience figures? Also, what does it matter? The event obviously drew huge figures.

No real surprise there, if anything it's a bit lower than I expected. I thought it could eclipse the 5m PPV buy mark. The buzz here in the States for that fight was insane.

I'm not sure if I'm overly-shocked by the reported figures.

Boxing purists aggressively lambasted the May-Mac spectacle - they hated it, whilst the UFC crowd relished the opportunity to see their man compete against the best boxer of the current generation.

Had both target audiences possessed an appetite to watch this bout (instead of only one of them), then it would have almost certainly exceeded 5m PPV buys.

The online and social media illegal streams probably took away a million or more buys as well.

good for them.. what do these numbers prove from boxing perspective? ..had they replaced one of these boxers with a kangoroo and invested in the whole circus just as much, I bet the results would have been just about the same..

Goes to show combat sports are not mutually exclusive. UFC/MMA fans now seem more willing to watch crossover bouts and hopefully we can see some crossover bouts in the future that will draw in boxing fans in a big way.

Why would they??? ... They could GAF less about anybody's tattoos... Who has time to worry about what somebody else does with their stupid looking tattoos??? Nobody even notices tattoos anymore because everybody's got 'em... 99% of tattoos look like shitt and in a few years they'll begin to fade... It's curious that Floyd never got any... You kind of notice people who don't have them nowadays because every idiot has to mark up his body.
