Has anyone read this recently published book.

Eig claims that Angelo Dundee was an FBI informer.

Also writes a lot about the amount of punishment Ali sustained after 1970.

I saw it at the library. It's a huge book. I read a newspaper article about it. It seems to be a great book. I just don't have the time to read it.

I'd given up reading books in Ali as most were too polarised or just simple rehashes. Thus looks more like Goldman's books on Elvis and Lennon. Definitely going to check it out. Thanks.

Ali sustained a lot of punishment throughout his career... especially from Holmes who he ducked for years.

One thing I find unfair in Boxing History - Ray Mercer had to give up his World Title to fight Larry Holmes.... If he kept the title Holmes would easily have been World Champion again at age 42... I also think Holmes beat Oliver McCall at age 45... He did better more skillful work, and scored more.

I'm in the middle of this important and engaging book. It is not a fawning "sugar coated" tribute but an intimate and honest look at Ali the man. The most powerful elements include interviews with ex-wives that reveal Ali's many flaws. The accounts of his fights are accurate in every detail and the recounting of his political and social impact are thorough. If you love Ali, you'll be incredibly moved. If you want "inside dirt", it's there too. I highly recommend this great book about the Greatest..
