Sooooo Why was Hughie Fury allowed to box?

If Tyson and Hughie Fury were both under scrutiny for the same thing, why was the younger man allowed to continue boxing?

I wondered the same, I came to the conclusion that it's because Tyson wanted time off (it's no coincidence the hearing was 2 years to the day he stopped, effectively waiting his ban out).

I would guess that means Hughie has a partial ban to serve, given he wasn't inactive during the 2 year period (and he got the same ban length, I believe).

I'd rather refer to him as Hughie "Shades of Ali " Fury

A partial ban? Can you imagine such a thing if you're right. Every active fighter takes a couple month ban time technically between every fight so may as well juice and just tot up the inactive time between camps as 'ban time'.

So Tyson Fury was able to box but chose not to in terms of the UKAD procedures and banned by the BBBoC over recreational drugs and mental health issues?

Can’t seem to quote on the phone.

They do seem to be making it up as they go along.

UKAD have turned themselves into a laughing stock over this. Neither boxer was suspended until almost a year after the positive test and then they lifted the suspensions when the Fury's challenged them so Hughie was free to box, effectively under appeal, whereas Tyson's case was more complex.

Seeing as how Hughie presumably has the same backdated ban, does he have to return the prize money from his title fight?

He lost money in that fight, so maybe he will be reimbursed!

Was it the recreational drug use from Tyson that made the difference?

In fairness to Mick, that was an interview pretty much immediately after the fight, he was bound to say something a bit silly.

Yeah I suppose so, he has just seen a lot of money go before his eyes, so in fairness not that bad really.

Hughie should have taken it though, it was a fight he could have won, it was very close too

Hennessy made himself look ridiculous. It was a close, terrible fight, on a terrible platform, that sold terribly, with a terrible undercard, and terrible ticket sales. There was nothing Ali about it, and Hennessy came away looking like a disappointed non-league manager who's seen his team knocked out of the cup telling people they played like Brazil.

I know punch stats are not the be all and end all, and that they have their faults and don't (cannot) paint a conclusive picture, but;

Parker landed more punches than Fury in every single round bar round ten when they both landed the same amount of punches. If you're giving Hughie rounds then it really seems to be based on him flicking (but not landing) the jab.

i actually had it for jp but thought it was really close. ive seen the punch stats and dont agree with how one sided they were for parker. hughie was certainly doing loads of air jabbing but in the first half he landed some good straihhts and uppercuts and jp could barely touch him. but then hughie basically stopped throwing those and turn into an inaccurate jsbbing machine for 2nd half and jp did get closer.

i had close parker but can see hugjies argument and wssnt at all expecting those 10-2 cards.

agree awful fight though

Yes they did. User Paddy Chavez on here argued with me when I told him not to mention Ali and Hughie Fury in the same sentence. He said it was shades of Ali but Fury didn't have Ali's accuracy  . Interested to see if he still compares Ali to Hughie Fury.
