The Hebrew Hammer laid a golden egg tonight. That opponent beat the crap out of him, but a,so ran like a coward. However the real damage came from the HBO commentators, particularly Kellerman. They were rough on the kid. That French Canadian ran all night!

He done his best Floyd impression for sure but Cletus was woefully poor. Domestic level fighter at best.

What were they supposed to say that he was putting on a Boxing lesson? They were giving him credit for showing a lot of heart.
Seldin found his limit tonight. Happens to almost all fighters at some point.
It's pretty weak to use the 'ol "He ran like a coward" line when he dropped your boy numerous times, and outboxed him handily. Reeks of sour grapes.

Seldin will have a long and profitable career in New York State just like Seanie and Paulie with careful matchmaking he will entertain crowds and put bums on seats.
A title contender he isn't. At 31 you ain't going to cure his shortcomings.

I know a superior boxer when I see one.
I know offence used as defence doesn't work on a moving target, it only works on statues.
I know that out of Seldin's 21 fights, only 2-3 were more than tomato cans.
I know I'm still a fan of the Hebrew Hammer, and look forward to his promoter matching him properly next year

HBO does turn on people at the drop of the hat. They turned on both Lemieux and your boy last but I think that it was warranted last night. Neither guy won a round and were brutally and clearly outclassed. Neither should be shown on the network again after those stinkers.

Didn't Seldin's people watch any tape of their opponent last night?
Were they not aware of their fighter's stylistic shortcomings going into that match?
One would have thought that they'd know that the Canadian kid was all wrong for them going into the bout & would have turned him down as an opponent. But, no. They behaved as if they were surprised by the other kid's tactics for Pete's sake.
Sure, HBO appearances don't grow on trees, but Seldin's people should have waited for a better opponent/opportunity to follow up his impressive debut against Ortiz last month. Instead, they were exposed as a very limited walk-in banger that's going to have to be matched very carefully from here on out.

Your right about the matchmaking. Totally the wrong type of opponent for Seldin. Maybe they saw 14-1 and thought eazy night without watching any footage. Even if Selden could block the ring better, he just hasn't the defence to protect himself when not firing bombs, or even while firing bombs. The best thing is he lost his unbeaten record. That will motivate him into working harder on his boxing skills rather than continuing to try and blast guys out. I look forward to seeing him next year, as long as they don't go silly and pit him against more tomato cans.
