Adrien Broner’s next fight is in the works.

The former four-division titleholder is being pegged for a springtime fight against Omar Figueroa, sources told RingTV.com. The fight is being scheduled for a main event slot on Showtime in either April or May.

Both fighters have bounced between 140 and 147 pounds, so the fight could take place at either weight, although welterweight is the likely division for this bout. Whatever weight it’s at, the fight figures to deliver plenty of action.

Another loss for AB.

Prediction: Figueroa will be busy, and outwork him for long spells with his aggressive style. Broner will shake his head a lot, and smile, and showboat all the while not throwing punches, and not winning rounds.

Figueroa will win a decision.

Broner needs to get bak to winning ways. Is he 30 yet? He can still be a force. He has 3 losses now, it could easily become 4 here. I think this will be contested at 147.

I doubt Broner beats the top guys at 147.. probably on his way out.

Both are really 140 pound fighters. For Broner to ever be close to elite fighters he has to stay away from 147 for a awhile and fight at 140, against Figueroa it won't matter because I guess they are similar size. I would give Adrien the edge in this as he was just recently in against Mikey Garcia, the quick turn around will help him with his timing and conditioning. Too much inactivity bad for a boxer.

Is This Adrien Broner's Last Stand as a Contender?

If AB would just move his hands, he would handle Figueroa handily (no pun intended).

But since the Maidana bout he's often been loath to open up. Apparently a mental block. Afraid to leave himself open and get caught like he did versus Maidana.

Figueroa is quite easy to hit and Broner could have a field day if he doesn't forget to punch.

But if Broner continues to be sparse with the punching, the busy Figueroa will simply out work him.

Straight 50-50. Figueroa is so much bigger and very active. Even if he blocks punches with his face, he'll test your chin and cardio for sure. I can't pick. Gun to my head, I'd say Broner in a close one.

Omar Figueroa Jr. has pulled out of his fight against Adrien Broner.

Figueroa withdrew from their 140-pound championship elimination match due to a shoulder injury sustained during training.

Broner reportedly will still fight April 21. Matchmakers for Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions have begun the process of finding a suitable substitute for Figueroa. Showtime is supposed to televise that April 21 card, which also is slated to include a bout between Jermall Charlo (26-0, 20 KOs) and Huge Centeno Jr. (26-1, 14 KOs, 1 NC) for the WBC interim middleweight championship.

What "suitable" substitute opponent will they find?

See. Whoever was saying Showtime was gonna pull the fight because of Broner's case in Atlanta. No Broner is still gonna fight on Showtime.
