I thought I would start off the new year with some comedy.

I respect his efforts inside the ring......outside he’s become a sick joke. There’s a twitter alias called deluded khan....quite funny.

Khan says ..... "“A lot of people comment that 'you lost to Canelo' but Canelo is a big, big guy and one of the best pound-for-pound guys. I was smaller against him, but a lot of people know I was beating him on the cards."

You WEREN'T beating him on the cards.... Canelo had a 2-point round going when you couldn't get up... Even if anybody believes those idiot scorecards....Canelo didn't use his size to bully you around the ring like Errol Spence would.... He picked you off with a clean right counter because your chin was hanging out there like a lantern in a storm.

Like it usually is...cuz that was your fourth loss -- 3 by KO Good Night Sweet Pixie if you fight any of the top guys.

He’s always coming out with crazy shit nowadays .
Christ It’s only a couple of weeks ago he was tweeting Anthony Joshua accusing AJ of shagging his missus, now he’s on about cleaning out the 147lb division .

..Khan has always been entertaining outside the ring..you should give him that..

Amir Khan is pretty media savvy and he’s somehow managed to exploit social media and reality-TV in order to retain the media spotlight, despite having only engaged in two fights in more than three years.

However, he is a gym rat and he has always continued to train and spar even though he hasn’t had a fight scheduled. So I doubt his skills would have diminished significantly.

He has also proven himself capable of preventing his stoppage defeats to Garcia & Prescott from affecting his mind-set and whilst his KO against Canelo was quite severe, he acquitted himself really well in that fight against an opponent that was almost certainly the physical equivalent of a light heavyweight.

I understand the reason why Amir Khan receives a lot of criticism. He does like to stir the pot by making moderately outrageous claims and it can be frustrating to see him refrain from facing the best opposition in his own weight class, due to his preference to remain inactive to wait for the biggest money bouts to materialise.

That being said, Amir’s fights are nearly always highly-exciting in nature and his bravery inside the ring cannot be questioned. His defensive vulnerabilities, coupled with his courage, ensure that when watching his bouts, you’re always sat on the edge of your seat waiting for something big to happen.

In regards to Amir’s comments articulated in that interview, well what is he supposed to say?

He’s saying the right things, even if many people don’t believe him. A fighter is supposed to be confident.

Also, assuming Khan’s skills haven’t eroded significantly, how many of us wouldn’t give Khan a shot at beating the likes of the following fighters at 147lbs, because I feel that the current iteration of these men could potentially lose to Amir?

• Kell Brook
• Danny Garcia
• Lamont Peterson
• Lucas Matthysse
• Jeff Horn
• Manny Pacquiao
• Jessie Vargas

It disappoints me to see so much hatred vented by so-called self-proclaimed boxing “experts” at a particular fighter that nearly always engages in action-packed exciting bouts.

The only guys I would give Khan a decent shot to beat are a couple he already beat, like Collazo and Alexander. Maybe Chris Algieri. He needs to stick with guys like Guerrero, Sammy Vargas, and Broner. No fight could I honestly say I would bet on Khan winning. 50/50 he gets KO'd against anyone at this point. Good skills but no chin. He is a 3 or 4 round fighter better suited for the amateurs.

He is just hanging around looking for a big fight to cash out with. I wish Floyd wouldn't keep ducking and dodging him.

If Khan was going to accomplish anything special with his career, he would have done it by now.

He's 31 years old and has been a pro for more than 12 years.

His blather about cleaning out the welterweight division is simply fantasy on his part.

Nothing more than a Khan-job.

Spence, Thurman, Porter, Garcia would all bang Khan out. Would maybe take them a few rounds if Khan was on his game but I'm pretty confident they would catch him at some point. He should take the Brook fight at 154 and cash out.

Forgot about Crawford there. Possibly the best guy in the division. He'd smash Khan silly. Horn would be a winnable fight for him but it looks as if he's being lined up for Crawford.

Horn might be the only top guy Khan can beat, but it's no gimme.

Horn would bring a lot of pressure and eventually get into range.

While not a power puncher, Horn's shots can have a wearing effect.

If Algieri, who used effective pressure but has no power, can rock Khan on several occasions, Horn could very well take the Brit out late.

I don't see Khan beating any top WWs.

I'm not sure that Horn is a top welterweight.

He holds a title, courtesy of a terrible home country decision. And he then beat the ordinary Corcoran.

I don't think that neccesarily qualifies Horn for the label "top welterweight."

Amir Khan is very overrated.

Why does he receive so much media attention, without ever having beaten a top opponent?

He gets knocked out every time he steps up.

Anyway, here’s a brief summary of Amir Khan’s resume, since boxing clearly isn’t your thing:

He's entertaining inside the ring as well.

No way he beats Thurman and Spence though.

I must admit I enjoyed watching him hit the canvas..

He can arguably out box any welterweight. But it's usually the one punch that can end the fight.

I can see Khan cleaning out 147 if 147 is the cupboard under his stairs.

As little as he's done for years now, it's still impressive that he believes he is or can become this dominating force at welterweight.
I say that because in all honesty, it's the only impressive thing about him now.
You can talk up a big game, You can put all the time in the gym, You can call out whoever you want. At the end of the day what proves you're made of something more is shutting up and getting the job done.

Being sat on the shelf for nearly 2 years now since his last fight. fighting only once in 2016 and 2015 against an opponent who was just coming off his first loss against Pacquiao (Algieri) and then someone who was beating him in my opinion then caught him, leaving him staring up at the ceiling (Alvarez).

In my opinion Khan isn't a world beater at the welterweight level or even at any level anymore his best days were at super-lightweight which is where he should be looking at going next. Fights against Julius Indongo and Adrien Broner would be his best bet since both are coming off losses in their last fights and a 10 round fight against either would suit Khan.
Or if he's feeling like it's time to call it a day, keep chasing that Pacquiao fight and it'll either happen and Khan can be finished and done or drop down and fight Mikey Garcia and give him the platform he needs to step up into the world stage properly.

Khan has fast hands and that’s about it. He sucks

His resume is at least as good as Wlad Klitschko's too.

Spence was asked at the post-press conference last Saturday night if he’d be willing to fight Khan next, and he just laughed without answering the question.

Unlikely Khan has any real interest in Spence.

Would prefer more winnable fights against aging Pacquiao or possibly damaged Brook.

Luckily for Khan-job, promotional differences are a good excuse to avoid Spence.

Spence would send Amir to another Canelo-like dreamland muy pronto.
